Dawn Of The Dead Analysis

People enjoy watching movies related to our own destruction or the end of the world. It seems that having the sensation that our destiny is to try to survive from an apocalypses, zombies or monsters is very interesting to people. This sensation is because “monsters can stand as symbols of human vulnerability and crisis, and such they play imaginative foils for thinking about our own responses to menace” (Asma, 2016). The movie “ Dawn of the Dead” is a good example of how a group of people coexisting within a mall tries to deal with each other’s personalities and behaviors, and how they fight against the zombies in order to survive. Also, this movie is a reflection of how people would react towards an event that paralyzes the world. Finally, movies about the destruction of the humanity transmit that most of these events start all of the sudden; In other words, humans are not prepare to deal with it because they did not expect it.
“Dawn of
the Dead” displays different people’s characteristics. In this movie, attitudes such as selfishness, concern, loyalty, friendship, deception, and love are highlighted within a specific character. Moreover, this movie shows how at the beginning it is hard to deal and discover who is good or bad, but along the story, the characters are able to get to know each other and identify whom they can or cannot trust in. Also, this kind of movies look to produce the idea that sometimes our loved ones will die in these situations. I think that people like to watch movies, such as Dawn of the Dead, because even unpleasant sensations, such as losing a relative or seeing how good people sacrifice for others, are enjoyed.
Zombies, monsters or serial killers displayed in movies are reflections of the human being.
When people watch these type of movies, they get scare, but it is what we are currently living in our daily activities. I think that the idea of Zombie can be compared to how people are dependent on technology. A good example is when there is a young person walking in the streets looking at his phone and not paying attention to nothing else. People are so dependent on technology that even personal contact is not necessary anymore. Moreover, the idea of an apocalypse that will destroy the world transmitted by movies is also happening right now. Humans are destroying the environment and contaminating all the natural resources. Furthermore, the world is living its own extinction, and it is due to the people’s bad habits and overconsumption. Finally, these movies produce on people to question: what would they do if they were in those situations? Thus, People can challenge their concepts and abilities about what to do when watching these
movies.
I personally like movies such as “ Dawn of the Dead”, because it is terrific but at the same time incredible how factors out of our control destroy the world. “We are vulnerable to both the inner and outer forces”(Asma, 2016). In addition, I think there will be always a high demand on movies that display how humans have to survive to events such as apocalypses, zombies or monsters. These types of topics are very interesting for people, and the intrigue about how the world can disappear will never go away from us. Finally, I enjoyed the movie “ Dawn of the Dead”. I consider that it really very funny and scary at the same time.
