“You have such an intriguing way with words, Dawson,” Addilyn replied. He turned back to face her, cheeks blushing pink.
“Thanks Addilyn,” Dawson mumbled with a shy smile. They both grinned at each other and looked away, parting ways as the sidewalk came to a split.
“I’ll see you tomorrow Addi,” said Dawson as he waved.
“And I’ll see you tomorrow as well,” Addilyn waved back and continued walking.
Rumor has it that Addilyn has always been very fond of Dawson and Dawson himself has always found Addi genuinely charming, but has always been too afraid to try and be part of a commitment because he doesn’t want to hurt her down the road.
Dawson arrived home, and was greeted by his cheerful parents, then proceeded upstairs to his room for homework. A few minutes pass by, when out of the blue, the doorbell rings. Mrs. Cole scurried to the door, anticipating the guest.

Cole agreed. She moved to the staircase, looking up, “Dawson! Addilyn is here for you! Enjoy your night sweetie, I’ll see you around.” Mrs. Cole turned to walk away, as Dawson came racing down the stairs. He grabbed a jacket off the coat hook, and shut the door behind the pair.
“What’s up Addi?” Dawson asked. “Is there something wrong?”
“Dawson, I just really have something to say, and it has been bugging me for quite some time,” said Addilyn, gazing at the ground, brushing her hair back behind her ears. She tucked her hands away deep in her coat pockets, lifted her head, and looked Dawson’s way, nervously.
“I’m always here for anything and you know that Addi,” Dawson faced her, trying to comfort her with words as they walked. Addilyn stared back towards the ground.
“Dawson,” Addilyn sighed, but courageously spoke,”I am in love with you and I always have been. When we used to play together as children in the downtown park, there was no one else I wanted by my side, playing tag and hide & go seek. I know you have always talked about commitment being your biggest fear, but I know deep down that if we try our hardest, we can make it work. Just like John Green says in one of your favorite novels, ”You don’t get to choose if you get hurt in this world, but you do have some say in who hurts you, and I like my choice.” Dawson, I love you and would love the opportunity to be
