Day Of The Dead Analysis

The intense loneliness of Day of The Dead. A film with a few but very stereotypical cast. The cast consists of an independent female leader, a crazy doctor, a lazy happy Jamaican, a drunk Irish, and a group of angry gung ho soldiers looking for an excuse to kill the scientists. From the very beginning everything is empty. The whole town is quiet and the heroin goes out to look for any survivors with a friend. The words of hello Echo through the town but no one reply’s. This goes on for about nine minutes but still no one reply’s. On the ten minute mark the group decides that they have spent enough time on the outside so they make it back to camp and get on an elevator that takes them down to the underground safe zone. The moment the female makes it down into the bunker that’s when the real struggle begins.
The real enemy of the film is fear.
Just like every horror film, fear is a major character in the movie. With fear in tow every little action in the film is more intense, more suspenseful, more like how a horror film should be. Everyone is growing tired of their safe haven, the underground being their own personal cage keeping the monsters out but trapping them in. The group was split the soldiers against the scientists, the soldiers were tired of staying in the bunker and wanted to get out and kill as many zombies as they could but the scientists wanted to stay saying that they are making breakthroughs in controlling the zombies. The heroine tries to find a way to calm both parties but she too is feeling the
pressure.
