There are many ways to keep a tab on your personal card to safeguard it in your possession. For example one could invest in a lanyard that is attached to their person at all times keeping them connected to their card by a string or cord. Or one could also affix a temporary device that beeps every time you extend yourself within a certain distance of the card. Last, but not least you could always just sit in front of the computer and continually insert and retract their card until it becomes automatic. Another reason to take into consideration of safeguarding you card is the list of consequences that go with losing your card should you prove irresponsible.…

The Union held numerous advantages over the Confederacy at the start of the American Civil War. However, these advantages are hard to discern by merely looking at events, for the Union was unable to achieve victory for a full four years and suffered numerous defeats in the early years of the war. While the Civil War is well known for improving the civil rights of African Americans and ending slavery, it also holds other lessons in military strategy, lessons that still are apparent in the modern day world. Only through Generals Ulysses S. Grant, William Tecumseh Sherman, and David Hunter’s innovative strategy of total war was the Union able to exploit its advantages and bring the war to a close.…

    Credit Card Fraud

Credit Card Fraud is one of the biggest threats to business establishments today. Originally, credit cards simply carried raised numbers that were transferred to a carbon copy with a card-swiping machine. The merchant simply accepted any card presented. Spending limits and printed lists of lost/stolen cards were ineffective in preventing fraud and other financial losses. Merchants were required to telephone a transaction authorization center to get pre-approval of the transaction. The volume of telephone traffic grew too great, and more automated authorization systems allowed faster, easier, and verified transactions. Magnetic stripes on the backs of these payment cards started to appear and that allowed computers to be used at both ends of the call.…

    Physician Assisted Suicide

In today's society, one of the most controversial issues is physician-assisted suicide for the terminally ill. Many people feel that it is wrong for people, regardless of their health condition, to ask their health care provider to end their life; while others feel it is their right to be able to choose how and when they die. When a physician is asked to help a patient into death, they have many responsibilities that come along with that single question. Among those responsibilities are: providing valid information as to the terminal illness the patient is suffering, educating the patient as to what their final options may be, making the decision of whether or not to help the patient into death, and also if they do decide to help, providing the lethal dose of medication that will end the patient's life. For those who believe physician-assisted suicide should be their choice, they feel it should be legalized because: they don't want to go through the suffering caused by the terminal illness; they fear the loss of their autonomy (independence); becoming a burden to their family or friends, and also the fear of dying alone. One the other hand those opposed to assisted suicide feel it goes against religious beliefs and medical ethics. They also believe that there is always the possibility that a miracle will occur and the patient will overcome the illness and also that the doctor could have provided the wrong prognosis/diagnosis to the patient. The strongest reason against physician-assisted suicide has been the idea that if assisted suicide becomes legal, it will get out of hand and target certain people in society, such as those with disabilities, or certain races.…
