DBQ-American Revolution

American Revolution DBQ The American Revolution began in 1755, as an attempt to get freedom from Great Britain. The people of America were also ready for some changes in new country and ended up doing so. The American Revolution affected the American society by having effects on the political, social, and economical parts of society. The American Revolution changed many things about the American Society politically (docs c,b,e). The founding fathers of American believed that the country needed to have a better government. Many political figures of this time period such as James Madison wrote letters and gave speeches trying to persuade people to help create a new government. Another political change that happened was that the government of the United States decided that they must come to peace with the Indians (doc c). This was due to the constant begging of the Indians to come to peace with the government. They were in hopes to form an alliance.
Socially, the American Revolution had a huge effect. Major things were changed during and after the American Revolution in America. Women labor was a huge thing that was brought up during the American Revolution. Typically during this time period women were just in charge of household chores. Because of the American Revolution and men being gone or fighting women began to have to pick up the normal jobs of a man. As women began to have a bigger role in the social parts of society more religious freedom became available. One of the big steps forward in religious freedom was the writing on the Virginia Statue. This writing stated that Church of England would no longer be in existence and religious freedom was to be given to everyone (doc d).
Due to the American Revolution the economy in America undertook some pretty big changes. The economy began to become more agricultural (doc f). Times were tough and conditions in the Americas were not the best due to the war. Simple crops such as corn and wheat were the main things being grown. The economy became very weak due to the American Revolution. During the revolution the value of the dollar began to drop. By the end of the revolution the dollar was worth about half of its original worth.
Overall, the effects the American Revolution had on the American Society were majority positive with only a few negative. The political changes such as the alliance formed with the Indians were beneficial, as well as the social changes like religious freedom were both things that helped the country. Even though, the economy was weak due to the American Revolution it eventually came back around and was quite strong.
