American Revolution DBQ Essay The American Revolution was an astonishing revolution, we now look at it and realize was a huge deal in history. This revolution showed us that not only can a huge change all of a sudden occur but that every action causes a reaction, from the proclamation of 1763 to repeal of the stamp act. Without this war there probably would have never been the creation of the United
States. In about 1763, the French and Indian War ended and the French colonies became British colonies. This meant Great Britain had much more land to protect now, this lead the British parliament to believe that the Americans should help pay for protection now. This action caused a reaction like everything else in life, which meant somewhere around someone would have a reaction to this, in which it did, in the colonies.
Many actions during this time took place by the British Government toward American colonies after 1763. Not many were too joyful about this. Britain needed some sort of income, some money coming into the country. As mentioned in document one, they created acts to do this. There were many acts that made American colonists unhappy with the British government.
Two of these many acts in which did so were the Stamp act and the Sugar act. The Stamp act was passed by the British Parliament. The tax was imposed on all American colonists it required them to pay a tax on every piece of printed paper including newspapers, taxed documents, birth certificates, etc. In document two colonists wrote a letter to the king and parliament about the act given by the British they weren’t happy and wanted rights. One thing they said was "no taxes should be imposed on them, but with their own consent, given personally or by their representatives”.
