and drinks the poison. Right after Romeo dies juliet wakes up and she sees Romeo is dead so she grabs his dagger and stabs herself. The friar tells the prince the whole story and bam. Play over. Tybalt was one of the big factors that lead to the death of Romeo and juliet, and the three reason he caused this are: Tybalt is the instigator for a lot of the fights in this entire story, Romeo never wanted to fight, and he caused the first fight in the whole play even when benvolio tried to keep the peace. Tybalt is the instigator in the whole play and causes first death of a semi important character, and here’s why. The characters who speak are Tybalt, and lord capulet. In this scene Tybalt sees romeo and wants to go kill him but lord capulet stops him saying that he has heard good things of this person, and also to not disturb the mood at the party. Capulet says, “Young Romeo is it?/’Tis he, that villain Romeo/ Content thee, gentle coz, let him alone/ ‘A bears him like a portly gentle man,/And, to say truth, Verona brags of him/To be a virtuous and well-governed youth./I would not for the wealth of all this town/ Here in my house do him disparagement./Therefore be patient; take no note of him./It is my will, the which if thou respect.”(1•5•63-71). From the looks of it, Tybalt sees romeo and is going to go kill him for intruding. Lord Capulet stops tybalt saying to not care because he has heard good things about him and how he won’t be a problem. Tybalt withdraws, but plans to fight romeo later on. Now because tybalt can keep a grudge, he has sparked the beginning for all of the fights, drama, and the death of romeo’s best friend. Romeo never even wanted to fight tybalt, but tybalt still went to fight romeo and mercutio got killed. Romeo is the one to say these words. During this scene Romeo is trying to avoid fighting tybalt saying he never hurt him and his intentions at the party was to just have fun, and how he loves Tybalt’s family name just as much as his own (because he married juliet). Romeo says, “I do protest I never injured thee,/But love thee better than thou can devise/Till thou shalt know the reason of my love;/And so, good Capulet, which name I tender/As dearly as mine own, be satisfied.”(3•1•65-69). Here we have romeo protesting against fighting tybalt, of course this does not work and mercutio ends up getting killed by tybalt. This is the climax of tybalt’s effect to the death of romeo and juliet. If tybalt was able to let a grudge go and never tried to fight romeo. Romeo would have never been banished in the first place. Now that we have proven that romeo never wanted to fight in the first place, this adds more proof against Tybalt. In the beginning of the play it starts out with two servants of the montague family enjoying themselves. Tybalt comes and benvolio tries to keep the peace, but of course this fails with tybalt being a big potato. Benvolio is the person to say this against Tybalt. In this part of the play Tybalt threatens the montague boys, but benvolio states that all he wants to do is keep the peace. Benvolio says, “I do but keep the peace:put up thy sword/Or manage it to part these men with me.” (1•1•64-65). Benvolio says this right after tybalt threatens to fight. All benvolio tried to do was avoid a fight. Right after this quote though, Tybalt goes on to say he hates montague and so the fighting commences. Now, All benvolio tried to do was not start a fight, but Tybalt just could not hold back and this sparked the whole story. Everything in the “Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet” was caused by the oh so infamous Tybalt.
He showed up in the beginning of the story and caused the first fight which then lead to the death of Romeo and Juliet. First of all, Tybalt killed Romeo’s best friend when this was not required of him. Which then made Romeo deaf with rage and Tybalt's life came to an end. Romeo never wanted to fight Tybalt in the First place. When Romeo faced Tybalt he clearly stated that he did not want to fight and how he loved the capulet just as much he loved his own name, but Tybalt commenced fighting anyways. In the very beginning of the play, Benvolio confronts Tybalt to only attempt to keep the peace and clearly states this while doing so. Generally speaking, Tybalt is the one true purpose and cause for the death of Romeo and Juliet. None of this would happen if he were not so addicted to fighting people he had a grudge for. In the end we all learned one thing. . . Tybalt has no
chill.
