Death Of A Salesman Truth Analysis
Truth can be pictured in one's mind in many different ways. Based in each of the readings that we have read truth was viewed slightly different. Therefore truth can be showed in many ways. In both novels and Poe poems truth was involved by make a character see what and or how their life and what is around them make them the person they were. Truth is defined as to admit if it is real or reality. In fact I think that truth was showen in Death of a Salesman as well as The Great Gatsby and the Poe poems and short stories that I have read in class. Truth is involved in the novel Death of Salesman . In Death of a Salesman the truth is a major factor in the book. The American Dream is a major factor in Death of a Salesman. In chapter six the truth about Jay Gatsby comes out. Gatsby’s real name is James Gatz. We also find out that Gatsby lived on a farm on West Egg. Also Gatsby attended Lutheran College of St. Olaf in southern Minnesota. He attended there for two weeks. He didn’t like that he had to work as a janitor. Then he started working for Dan Cody on Lake Superior. (98-99) Not only is the truth mentioned about Gatsby and his background but why he acts the way he acts. Gatsby and Daisy have a history and Gatsby would do anything to be around Daisy. In fact Gatsby had put together parties for Daisy without her knowing. Novel such as the Great Gatsby aren’t the only kind of a reading that can have the topic of truth involved. In some of the Poe poems and short stories there is the theme of truth. In fact in the short story the Raven the truth is an important theme. The Raven has suspense built up into the short story. One of the times the short story builds up suspense is when the Raven says “Nevermore.” The quote “Nevermore” can tell one the truth of how the author and would view the Raven. The raven can be viewed differently but when the author stated that the raven says “Nevermore” it would be creepy. “Nevermore” is telling a person that the Raven knows what is going on and that the Raven is

Nick stops by Gatsby’s one afternoon and finds Tom Buchanan along with Mr. & Mrs. Sloane. Gatsby asks them to stay for dinner but they say no. Instead, Tom invites him to dinner with them although they were hoping he would say no. Tom thinks Gatsby lacks social grace and is suspicious of him and Daisy’s relationship. The next week Gatsby hosts one of his parties. Tom doesn’t want to go but goes so that he can watch him and Daisy but the party is a bust and it seems like everyone has a bad time. Tom torments Daisy y telling her that Gatsby made his money from bootlegging while Daisy protects that he made his money from being the owner of a chain of drugstores.
