Osama Bin Laden’s life started on March 10, 1957, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Osama’s life started out great. He was very wealthy and privileged growing up. He was also a demure boy while he was young. Bin Laden was tall for his age and had an athletic physique. Osama befriended Abdul Aziz, a lifelong friend, on a trip into the desert. He also was befriended and influenced by Abdullah Azzam, who influenced his beliefs later in life, when he was in school. While he was young, Bin Laden spent as much time as he could with his father. Although he was close with his father, Osama was sent to live with his mother in Tabuk. Osama wasn’t happy in Tabuk, so he asked to move back to Jidda. Even though his request was granted, Osama still wasn’t happy in…
Instead of being a film that is gloomy and sad, the film has the remaining family members preparing a feast and arguing over where to bury the body. We don’t ever feel sad that the character is dead in the first place. We just laugh at the way they go about putting her to rest. They set the story up so that we focus less on the death and more about the bickering between family members. One of the characters also pokes fun at certain aspects of religion, which is always a very controversial topic in movies.…
How far will one man go to get revenge on the people who did him wrong? This question is relevant because Antony is ready to take action on the conspirators to make them pay for what they have done. By using his own emotions, that now has gotten him one step close to getting revenge. Antony was very tactful by studying the psychological aspect of the commoners to sway them on his side. Also, Antony figured out ways to persuade the crowd by using fallacies, rhetorical devices, and appeals.…

Who loved to hear folktale stories from their grandmother at nights before going to sleep? Personally I loved hearing them especially at night with hot chocolate and pan dulce [sweet bread]. However, wouldn’t you wonder why your grandmother would tell you these stories if there was a significant explanation, or lesson to be learned from them? In the book, “Brother I’m Dying”, by Edwidge Danticat it’s dispersed with numerous folk tales and children stories with a symbolic message. Most of the tales were told by her [Edwidge] grandmother “Grandme Melina” who can be seen to be giving her guidance even after her death, through her stories. The tales connect to Danticat providing a form of escape for her during the most troubling times in her life, dealing with issues such as death, displacement and illness.…

In Islam there is an extended family society, which means many different relation and generations live together. Elderly parents or any terminally ill member have the right to expect their children or family members to care for them and it’s the responsibility and duty of the whole family to do this because of the effort and sacrifices the member patient has made. Looking after the elderly provides spiritual growth, and looking after a terminally ill patient is considered a ‘sawab’ which means a good act.…
In this film there were several social norms that we had seen that we were unfamiliar with. For example, when the film began Raimunda, Paula, and Sole are all meeting at their mother’s tomb stone to clean it. In their culture doing this is normal. In the film there were several families doing the same thing. When a loved one has passed away they make sure that their tomb stones are clean/polished and well taken care of. It is kind of like paying their respects. In the United States we personally don’t go out to clean the tombs of our loved ones. We expect the others to do it for us. We don’t think of it as a responsibility that we need to do. We just visit the tomb bring flowers to set next to them.…

Dying is part of the normal process of living, but that isn’t to say that dealing with death is an easy feat. Thus, it is important for nurses to understand their patients’ cultural background in order to provide culturally competent and compassionate care at the end of life. Culturally competent medical care for the dying patient by nurses and healthcare providers alike is a challenging task, especially when religious values, practices, and beliefs influence the treatment decisions for patients as the end of life nears. The purpose of this paper is to discover cultural practices among the Jewish community at the end of life.…
Today, if someone were to die in a Western household, the general reaction would be to get the body to a morgue as quickly humanly possible, as to keep the unsightly relic of an ended human life out of sight and mind, or to keep any “death diseases” away from the living. Generally, hugs and kisses are not shared with the deceased, and preparation of the body for a funeral is definitely out of the hands of most Western families. When the funeral does commence, the mood is, more often than not, somber and dark. It’s as if individuals are being taught from an early age that death is the worst possible fate one can meet, and that the dead must be sterilized and not handled. Meanwhile in other societies around the world, death is treated as a celebration of one’s success in life. In Madagascar, a ritual known as famadihana includes a group dance after the exhumation of the deceased. The remains are wrapped in fine silk, sprayed with wine or perfume and carried overhead during festivities (April Holloway). It is not to say that others should be quite so intimate with their dead, however, perhaps something could be taken from such a display of love and joy, and be applied to the current stiff and grief filled ceremonies sometimes seen…
