EczOut is a topical cream prescribed to patients suffering from eczema, Debbie Downs is one of the many patients that uses this cream. After being prescribed the medication Debbie began getting migraines, a year later Debbie learned that the chronic headaches could be the result of EczOut. Debbie was unaware of this risk with the topical cream, once she consulted a lawyer she decided to sue the company who manufactures the cream, Medi-made. Although, Debbie later found out she had unintentionally signed a medical arbitration agreement which she thought at the time had something to do with her medical insurance.
Ethical Obligations
The patients that use the product EczOut and other prescriptions developed by Medi-made are the companies biggest stakeholders. It is very unethical for the company manufacture to not disclose to the physician or patient of possible side effects from the drug. Patients have a right to know the complete list of side effects, so they can make a choice whether or not to continue with the medication. The manufacture has an ethical responsibility to adhere to the creating products that meets the needs of the individuals using the product. They create a caregiver and cared-for type of relationship with the individuals using the product by promoting their well-being in a moral manner.
