Deception In History

Deception is a powerful too. From making bogus ID's when you're underage to forging documents as a government leader, manipulating information to get what we want is one of society's many unpleasantries. Some of the world's biggest events were caused by the creation of fake books and documents. The list is far is too long, but here are the top five.

1.THE PROTOCOLS OF THE ELDERS OF ZION

This atrocity was an antisemitic text that explained a Jewish plan for world domination. The fake book was first published in Russia in 1903 and from there translated into multiple languages. America's very own Henry Ford took a liking to the book and funded the printing of 500,000 copies. Another major proponent was Adolf Hitler. One can assume that this book probably played a role for Hitler's monstrosity in World War II.

2. THE FAKE DONATION OF CONSTANTINE

Constantine the Great forged this Roman imperial decree to transfer authority over Rome and part of Western Europe to the Pope. This Papal rule lasted for centuries until someone finally called the document on its bluff.

3. HOW THE ZINOVIEV LETTER CHANGED THE WORLD
The British Daily Mail newspaper published the fake Zinoviev Letter just a few days before an important election in 1924. The letter was said to be written by Communist in Moscow and directly attacked diplomatic relations in Britain. The purpose was to effect the Labour government's vote. Little impact was had on the vote itself, however, it helped with the collapse of the liberal party and changed the face of British politics for twenty years. As a result, Anglo-Soviet relations went downhill fast, setting up some large world conflicts later
