Decision Making Paper
Choices are a way of everyday life; we must choose to make the decision that is right for you or for your family. Whether the choice is to go to work, school, eat, or drive safely the choice is up to the person. In life decision making is one of the defining characteristics of leadership. Too often; we tend to go through life unconsciously making decisions without hesitation, thought, planning, and worries. However, every decision we make as human it can lead to better the future, save lives, or it can do the exact opposite of stopping life, ending careers, or harming your future. This single decision many take for granted shapes our current realities. Not only does it shape who we are as humans, it also shapes us for the future. This paper will consist of a personal life experience involving decision making. In addition, it will give insight to how similar my decision-making process to the six step decision making process as described in the text. Concluded how my decision would be different if I had used the same steps included the text. My greatest decision making process involved making a lifelong commitment of bringing a child into the world. One bad decision was thoughtless and in the moment took life. There I was sitting four months pregnant with a lifelong decision to make. At the very moment my life flashed before my eyes. I was faced with giving a life in one hand, and in the other hand taking a life away. At that very moment I had to realize the power to be a leader as it was my decision, and to realize the power of decision making. I had to understand what making a decision would do in my situation. For example, when an adult decides to pick up a cigarette to smoke initially that decision can lead to you not liking it and stepping away from smoking. On the other hand the decision can lead to loving cigarettes and eventually dying from lung cancer. The end result is something we too often hesitantly
