Decline Of The Middle Ages
The Middle Ages is a period, more famous as “Dark Ages” due to the oppression and the corruption of the church, the Black Plague and the lack of progress in people’s life. The common event used to mark the beginning of the Middle Ages is the year the Western Roman Empire fell. One reason this year is not very accurate is that even though the western part fell, the eastern kept it up for another thousand years and its influence was still in power despite being weakened through the centuries. With the empire still remaining, from this point of view nothing has changed. However in the year 380 AD, Christianity became the state religion of the Roman Empire. This event more accurately marks the beginning of the Middle Ages because this religion

The legacy of the Middle Ages, while being debatable, is most closely tied to that of an “Age of Faith” due to the Roman Catholic Church’s power over most aspects of medieval culture. From the 5th to the 15th century, Christianity reigned over any other structures that had power over the Medieval Era, allowing the church to have the most lasting impact on the age and most other time periods that followed. The church was able to outlast any dark or golden age, overpower the feudal system, and gain the complete and utter faith of most people in Europe, giving the age its ultimate title as one of faith.…

Overall, the Middle Ages was the period from about 500 to 1450. This was because it was the period which came between the fall of Rome and the start of the modern era. Although many can argue that the middle ages were a Dark Age, this period can best be labeled as an age of faith because of the great extent of authority the Catholic church had, the result of Pope Urban II’s call of the Crusades, and the peace and tranquility that the church brought throughout…

From the 6th to 15th centuries in Europe, there was a time widely regarded as The Middle Ages. This period of time also goes by many other names. Some of these are The Age of Faith, The Dark Ages, The Age of Feudalism, and The Golden Age. The chaos and disorder during this time, sparked by the fall of the Roman Empire, called for a new type of localized government, feudalism. The church acted as the main way for one to learn and make advancements in science and art. This is what leads one to believe the proper label for the Middle Ages is The Age of Faith.…

Christianity inclined the Early middle Ages. It was between 500-1000 C.E. that this age existed. During this time stability was negligible. During this era, Eastern Europe was combating against the Arabs and Western Europe was under assault from Germanic clan. During the sovereignty of Charlemagne, Christianity soared extremely high. In 800, on Christmas Day after being topped monarch by Pope Leo III, Charlemagne brought schooling and illumination to his people. The Pope Leo positioned a golden crown on the bent head of Charlemagne. Charlemagne due to the coronation left him astonished, affirming that had he knew Pope Leo III’s plan he would not have entered the church.…

Many historians think that The Middle Ages is a time period of nescience, where few or no improvement took place. The Church was the midpoint of consideration, and in place of rational perspective of the world, beliefs took shape around superstition. On the other hand, following the Middle Ages there was a specific era labeled as the Reneissance where education and developments became revival. It was like a bridge between medieval times and modern history. That is why, the Renaissance was seen as a archetype of the current world and changed people’s way of life, sight of art and scientific…

The Middle Ages was an interesting time period. All around the world things were happening, but the spotlight stayed on Europe. The Middle Ages was a period of insecurity, famine, and religious war. Christianity was the main focus of religion in the Middle Ages. As a system called Feudalism rose, many people turned toward God as a safe haven. For many people there was not much to live for. When the people died, they wanted to get to heaven to experience eternal happiness. In 1056 a.d. the Byzantine church split into two different religions which was later known as "The Schism of 1056". These religions were Eastern Orthodox and Catholicism. This split appeared because the religious leaders thought that the church should be ran different ways.…

    Thirty Year War

The statement "The Thirty Years War is both the end of the middle ages and the start of the modern age" is in my opinion very accurate. The Thirty Year's War, was a series of declared and undeclared wars lasting between 1618 and 1648, primarily fought in Germany. The middle ages is described as being between the post Roman Empire and the Renaissance; 400 AD-1400 AD. During the middle ages people were controlled by the church. Leaders led by divine rule, deriving their power through God and the church. There was no separation of church and state and no single king, queen or other royalty, other than the church through the Pope, united the European countries. The Catholic Church used this opportunity to become the super power of Europe. The Church controlled everything, including the reproduction of books. The monasteries reproduced manuscripts manually and, accordingly, controlled what information was made available. Because these manuscripts were rare and expensive, they were only available to wealthy patrons and not to the common man.…

The intellectual decision for most people to become secular from the church dramatically changed the culture of Europe. As people started to become ill with the plague, they started to drift away from the church because they weren’t being healed. The catholic church ran the middle ages. We see this through ideas like Petrine Supremacy and Divine Right. The fact that the pope christens the king into becoming king, “under the power of God” shows how in control the church was. Because of the secularization of people, the church was becoming less powerful, ending the Middle Ages. And because humanism started to form, as the church was ending, the renaissance began.…

The world was a violent place full of disease and death in the next 7 Centuries spanning from the fall of Rome to the First Crusade. Sewage systems stopped working and aqueducts broke down, which meant there was no running water. Roman houses were deteriorating, causing the Romans to take down magnificent buildings for material to build shacks to live in. During this time, Christianity was very attractive to people. A new form of unity was gradually emerging, a work of monks and missionaries. To the people living in the Dark Ages, their new emperor was Jesus Christ. The greatest general of the Franks converted from Paganism to Christianity on Christmas day, attracting a numerous amount of Pagans to convert as well. Emperor Constantine legalized Christianity in 313 AD because he saw a Christian sign during battle.…
