As a guest editor I was asked to review and analyze Dee Dee Myers article “What class warfare really looks like”, and either recommend it or not for publishing in The Shorthorn. After considering all rhetorical appeal in Myers’ writing, I concluded that it should not be read at large by the UTA community. Therefore I must recommend that it should not be published in The Shorthorn, due to the fact that Myers states the gap between the super-rich and everyone else has steadily grown. The rich are getting richer while the poor are getting poorer. I am sure everyone knows the strength of money. Myers raises a question here- are super wealthy people much smarter and productive than the rest of us? Everybody knows the answer …show more content…
She let us know in her article that she served as a press in the White House during Clinton administration. She reference “the Noble Prize-winning economist Joseph Stiglitz in vanity fair”… (3). He stated that super-rich people doesn’t have to dependent on government for anything, they only have to live by the laws of the government. Basically, they can handle things themselves because they have money to speak for them. Myers’ mention that those who benefit from income taxes, are the wants with good and highest taxes. The reader of The Shorthorn, particularly organizations such as the entire student’s body wouldn’t agree with Myers’ article. The government should have empathy on the poor people when it comes to taxes. She also gives logical structure in her writing, making her article to be read for the UTA community. The Shorthorn readers, particularly the student’s body at UTA, would not relate to her article and will not take interest in it because everyone knows that the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer in our society nowadays. After analyzing Myers’ articles, I could see some things in there that I don’t agree on, but I strongly recommend that it should not be published in The Shorthorn newspaper.
