This issues has prompted various attempts to regulate the type of content children have access to. While legislation has tried to implement changes, there is always the conflict of this regulations restraining freedom of speech. Thus, this attempts have usually ended in failing. While the need to protect kids is recognized, the articles tells us that we need to be able to walk a fine line between the protection of children and freedom of speech. The articles pays particular attention to looking at this legal issues in the context of the increase in the use of smart phones and other technology that offer access to internet connection. During the time of the article, individuals had access to the internet only through a personal computer or a laptop. However, they mention that, wirelesses PDAs and 3g phones are proving access to the internet in a more direct and invasive ways. The article argues that this accessibility has made it easy for children to get exposed to inappropriate content. Furthermore, this content can be delivered through pictures that these devices are now capable of capturing and sharing. The article presents concerns with online bullying and sex solicitation from online presences.
