Definicion e Importancia del Mercadeo
A través de este ensayo estaremos iniciándonos en el estudio del mercadeo como herramienta primordial en el proceso de posicionar uno o más productos en el mercado de manera que satisfagan las necesidades del consumidor y los impulsen a iniciar el consumo de éstos. Comenzaremos dicho estudio recopilando diferentes definiciones del concepto de mercadeo, incluyendo nuestra propia definición. Basándonos en estas definiciones, explicaremos desde nuestro punto de vista y con ejemplos, la importancia del mercadeo en el éxito de una organización.

Aunque existen muchas y variadas definiciones de lo que es mercadeo, personalmente definiría el mercadeo como el proceso de investigar las preferencias, gustos y necesidades de un grupo previamente seleccionado para promover, vender y distribuir productos que satisfagan las necesidades de éstos de manera que consuman regularmente los mismos.

De acuerdo con la American Marketing Association, "mercadeo es el proceso de planificar y ejecutar la concepción, asignación de precios, promoción y distribución de productos para crear intercambios que satisfacen los objetivos individuales y de la organización".

La enciclopedia libre , Wikipedia, define mercadeo como el estudio de los procesos de identificación, anticipación y satisfacción de necesidades y deseos de individuos y organizaciones a través de la creación y el intercambio de bienes y servicios de valor.

A base de las definiciones anteriores, podemos observar que existe un factor común en todas ellas y es la identificación y satisfacción de las necesidades y objetivos del cliente o individuo. Es este hecho, lo que define la función de mercadeo y por ende, a todas las otras etapas en este proceso. A través del mercadeo, la empresa obtiene la información y dirección necesaria para crear, producir, ofertar y promocionar productos que satisfagan las preferencias y gustos del consumidor al momento de comprar bienes o servicios.
