Defining Social Media
Defining Social Media:
In my opinion, social media is used to keep in touch with people, share ideas, videos, and pictures, and gain some knowledgeable information in networks and virtual communities. Social media is very handy when it comes to keeping in touch with long-lost friends and family members. Social media is a great resource to search things that you don’t know and that allows you to become knowledgeable about things you needed to know.

Article Selected:
Vine’s Biggest Teen Star Criticized for Homophobic Video

Response:
My response to this article is that you should always watch what you put on social media because anything can be saved and it could generally be held against you depending on what the post may be about. Social media isn’t always a person’s best friend. You need to watch what you post; especially for employer reasons. Majority of employers will go onto your Facebook page and see what kind of a person you really are. In this certain article, Nash Grier is a very popular person on Vine. After he posted the video making a homophobic slur, he did delete it because of negative comments that started to begin. The trick to this though, is that he deleted it, but someone else had already saved it and posted it again and it went viral. After that, Nash Grier did take it upon himself to apologize on Twitter saying how he was being ignorant, stupid, and how he was stuck in a bad place. He may have apologized, but from here on out, it’s possible that this discrimination will be held against him for life, due to one mistake he didn’t think about before he posted it on social media.

Conclusion:
Think before you post. You should always know that whatever you post on social media, may or may not affect you in the long run. Be smart and think about what you’re posting before you actually submit it.

I took some time to read some of Greg Elliott’s tweets. Let me say that Elliot is a vulgar man, and I find his commentary generally tasteless and crude, but nothing he has tweeted amounts to anything more offensive than cussing and mild misogyny. Moreover, the accusations against Elliot are of online harassment, but since when did criticizing political figures on a public account amount to harassment? To this mountain of debauchery, we can add hypocrisy, for Guthrie had continued all the while to criticize Elliot on her own anonymous Twitter profile during the whole dispute.…

Social media is a snap shot of a person’s life. The majority of people using social media or blogs want to put their best face forward. To illustrate a husband sends a wife flowers, she posts a picture of her bouquet on her Facebook account with the caption, I have the best husband ever. Later that same day she gets home and the husband has forgotten to take the trash out. The wife is very unhappy with her lazy, good for nothing husband. The wife does not take down the earlier post, but at that moment he is not the best husband ever. Social media portrays the life people want to share. This life is not always reality. Blurring of the truth can occur in so many different ways it is important to examine these principals and how they can be interpreted prior to passing…

Language Analysis The negative impact that social media has implied on teen parties has created much chaos in recent media. A Herald Sun opinion piece, “Thanks to social media, teen parties are not worth it” written by the perspective of a mother Wendy Tuohy, has put forward the reasons why social media has such a huge impact on teen parties. In a mixture of aggressive, sympathetic and worried tone Wendy declares her view that social media has created a preeminent interference in teen parties, where not much supervision is obtained it is becoming a major issue for parents to deal with gatecrashers and to live in fear for their kids safety.…

Some people upload pictures and videos on social media as a purpose. Dan Savage used that opportunity as a way for him to express purpose youth. His purpose was to use the camera as a way for him to communicate with the youth expressing their message of hope to them. As he states in his essay, “I could look into a camera, share my story, and LGBT kids know that it got better for me and It would get better for them too” (Savage 408). Savage goal was 100 videos of others sharing their story or experiences, but he overpassed that number. He went viral more than he had expected. He was using the camera for good purposes, but not everybody in this society have the same mindset as he…
