Power The world is enveloped in the idea of complete power, but little do they know that everyone already possesses some form of power. Power can be viewed from a variety of different ways, and everyone should have their own type of power within themselves. For example, a stay-at-home mom is not going to have the same amount of power as the president, but they both possess a unique form of power in their own diverse lifestyles. A generic definition of the word power would be the ability to do something or act in a particular way. I believe that the most crucial form of power is the capacity to control people in their sayings or actions in any sort of an environment. There have been countless times that I have witnessed power and the most common one would have to be my parents control. Every single day of my life, I have lived by my parents rules and their sanctions, which is complete control over an individual. If I were to say something inappropriate in front of them, I would then be punished in some humane form of way. For example, one time I used an inappropriate word when I was angry and
As a teenager, I don’t have as many opportunities to establish power amongst my peers, but my younger siblings are subjects in my control. Luckily, my siblings have a brother that will teach them the rights from the wrongs, instead of abusing my power and making them do things that they would normally not volunteer to do. One time my brother was watching a movie that involved several drug references and I showed him all of the negative effects of drug use. Simple conservations like this can help him later on in his life and hopefully those positive words will be reflected in his mind when he gets into a sticky situation.
