For most people, acts of bravery are more physical; for instance, a police officer fighting crime. For me, however, I experience more “emotional” bravery like overcoming my own obstacles and fears such as performing in front of large crowds. For example, last year I competed with the Trautmann Middle School Band, and let's just say that “overwhelming” and “intense” are understatements for the continuous, hardworking journey we (all) went through. Since I wasn’t in the Honors Band the previous year, the music seemed so complicated and tedious to me in this more advanced band. I was able to control myself when my fingers tensed up, and my breathing started to become more rapid. As a musician, though, I have to learn to control myself in order to produce a beautiful sound and help the band win especially because I had lots of important parts in the music. Being exposed to a new band made me apprehensive in whether or not I was able to accomplish all the corrections I was yelled at for. However, I received lots of encouragement from my teachers, family, and friends which helped me believe in myself a bit more than I used to. Now, I can perform in front of the largest crowds and carry the music as well as the band no matter how strict, intense, and daunting the judges might
