Honor can mean respect and esteem shown to another, it may also apply to the recognition of one's right to great respect or to any expression of such recognition in some instances it implies profound respect mingled with love, devotion. There is a priceless respect that everyone in the world possesses, and that is the respect of a person’s honor. A person’s honor is something that cannot be bought, sold, or traded it’s something that must be gained by the respect of your peers. An example of how honor is seen in everyday life in through a person’s word. The standard dictionary definition of honor first lists public regard and esteem under the word, with ethical conduct or high standards of justice and responsibility appearing much further down the list. This is reflected in the way the modern world treats the issue of honor. In ancient times, honor was the manner of being that we now describe as having integrity. In plain language, an honorable person avoids deception whenever possible, treats others with respect and sticks to her beliefs no matter how others think or act. People generally do not seem to behave very well toward each other anymore. Honor determines the hierarchy of an individual while revealing his loyalty and true intentions. Reward comes for those at the top whose honor does not diminish, while a false or fleeting honor of a lesser mortal causes…

Honor and glory are central to the Greek character. Since heroes are the essence of the society from which they come from, Greek heroes live their lives according to honor and glory, in all kinds of varied forms. Both traits trigger a magnificent war that takes the lives of numerous men, and shapes its development at every stage. The fall of Troy is “a thing… whose glory shall perish never (Homer, Iliad 2.324)”. The goal of the Greeks is fame that is never ending and lastly even after death, and they let nothing bar their way. The honor of the individual, family, and community guide every action…
In the wake of numerous cheating scandals, such as those at the University of Virginia and Harvard, many people have began to question the effectiveness of honor codes (sources C, D). Honor codes can be defined as a set of rules implemented in a school that are based around morals that define both acceptable and unacceptable behaviors. While many feel as though such guidelines are necessary in maintaining a schools’ dignity, others believe that honor codes are impossible to enforce. Honor codes should not be enforced because they are too harsh, unrealistic, and put innocent students in uncomfortable social situations.…
What does honoring means? Honoring is high respects, as shown for a special merit; esteem. Although honoring a veteran may not seem important to some, it should be a very high priority and very important to all Americans. After all, we would not be the country we are today without our veterans fighting in wars and protecting us and our freedom. But how can one honor a veteran?…
Honor is respect that is given to someone to someone who is admired, has a good reputation, and high moral standards of behavior. I believe honor is respect given to people who have done good things, and is a good role model. Rachel Carson is an honorable person because she advanced the global environmental movement through her writings and that is a good thing. She influenced a lot of people in the 20th century.…

The Medal of Honor is the highest award to be given to a courageous individual in the Armed Services of the United States for an act of valor against an enemy force. This award, being so honorable and prestigious, is generally awarded by the President of the United States in the name of Congress. It was introduced on December 9, 1861 when Iowa Senator James W. Grimes created a bill that authorized awarding the medals of honor. The goal of these awards was to enhance the efficiency of the Navy and, having seen its value, Congress passed the bill on December 21, 1861. To the present day, the Medal of Honor awards and recognizes those who exemplify extreme bravery, leadership and dedication to their country.…
Honor to different people can mean completely different things, so it’s almost impossible to come up with one solid definition of what honor is. To some people being a brave soldier and dying for your country is honorable. For others, it’s being a missionary in a poor African country. While the deeds that are considered honorable may be different, I think it all goes back to my point of being an individual and doing what you think is right. Those missionaries don’t go to Africa for a vacation. They go there to bring the word of God. Those soldiers, sailors, marines and airmen aren’t out there dying for no reason, they are risking their lives to ensure America stays free. While those instances maybe different, they have one thing in common, and that is that in both instances the actions are done because of some moral conviction to do what is right. These people are few and far between these days, and it’s really a breath of fresh air to see people with some kind of morality these days.…
Virtue is a broad term used in ethics, it identifies with the moral character of a person where some other ethic theories focus on duties and roles or the consequences of an action. Virtue ethics has been broken down into three main theories: eudaimonism, agent-based theories, and the ethics of care. Eudaimonism is based on human flourishing or a person achieving their purpose well. An agent-based theory are based on what other people think are admirable traits in people that are thought to be common-sense intuitions. The third type is ethics of care which came from the feminist thinkers, it challenged the “idea that ethics should focus solely on justice and autonomy; it argues that more feminine traits, such as caring and nurturing, should also be considered” (Athanassoulis, N. (n.d.). Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy.).…
