“Joy to the world, the Lord is come!” Christmas is the time we should be most joyful.
The Bible tells us that the Messiah’s birth will bring joy to all people Luke 2:10 says: “… I bring good tidings of great joy which shall be to all people.” One can also see the joy the wise men had on Christmas in Matthew 2:10, “When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.” In addition, we should be joyful because Christmas is evidence of God’s love for us and it’s when salvation came to us. John 3:16 says: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son…” John R. Rice said, “You can never truly enjoy Christmas until you can look up into the Father’s face and tell him you have received his Christmas gift.” Christmas is the perfect season to be
joyful.
Christmas is also a wonderful time to be generous. God set the perfect example; He gave Himself to us on Christmas. Additionally, the wise men brought gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh to Jesus when they went to see him. Max Lucado, a Christian author said, “Where Grace happens, generosity happens.” During Christmas, we should have feelings of reminiscence, joyfulness and generosity. There are several wonderful Christmas stories, but none could surpass true story of Christmas which is of the birth of our Savior. Angie Mosteller wrote a Christian version of the poem “’Twas the Night Before Christmas”. She wrote: “‘Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the earth,
Every creature was stirring, awaiting a birth.
The time for Messiah was certainly near,
The prophets foretold it; the Bible was clear…
From the book of beginnings, the very first sin,
God’s word made it clear how His grace entered in.
Born of a virgin, He’d come as a man.
The Creator among us, the time was at hand…
He’s the Author of Life; He’s the Ruler of All.
He can offer salvation, on His name we call.
The shepherds and Wise Men would bow to adore
Holy God among men, our greatest reward…
History turned on the first Christmas day,
When God became man in a humble display.
As we think of the manger in which He was laid,
Let our hearts welcome Him to the world He made!”
