In Philippines, a few decades ago, kids used to gather in the streets or in their neighborhood playground to play their favorite Larong Pinoy games like piko, patintero, taguan, tumbang preso, luksong tinik, etc. Due to limited resources of toys of Filipino children, they usually play using native materials or instruments. Filipino kids usually come up on inventing games without the need of anything but the players themselves. With the flexibility of a real human to think and act makes the game more interesting and challenging. In these games, Filipinos makes a lot of interaction with peers, friends, relatives, and just other people in general. With lack of time to have fun and play, experts invented games which when people, especially children, play effortless. Sometimes, people use machines to do their works and to finish it on time not just like in the past generations, people exert too much effort for them to conduct and finish their works. In Clive Thompson’s article “Smarter than You Think: How Technology Is Changing Our Minds for the Better,” he argues that technology is positively changing the way people think and how they affect everyday activities. He uses the role of computers in chess playing as an example to steer away from the idea of “man vs. machine” and, instead, highlight the powerful relationship between humans and computers if they work together. According to Thompson, technology was initially created to influence intellectual development. Moreover, he claims that electronics such as machines can potentially enlarge the mind’s storage of knowledge, identify connections more easily, and encourage communication and publication. However, he fails to explain that humans…

In order to understand some of the things that will be discussed in this paper, one must first know a few things about snowboarding. For those of you who live under a rock, snowboarding is a sport in which a rider straps a board to his or her feet and then slides/glides down a mountain, hill, slope, or basically anything that has an incline. One important piece of equipment is the bindings, which attach the rider to the snowboard. The bindings are connected to the board with screws that are short enough not to penetrate the bottom of the board, but long enough to be sturdy. The rider must wear snowboarding boots, which tend to be fairly thick and padded, in order to keep their feet warm. In order for the board to be attached to the rider’s…

As the world is developing rapidly, people rely more and more on science and technology. When they define the concept of science and technology, “most people today think of silicon chips, iPods, high-definition TVs, and visual cell phones” (Wilson 320). Among those high-tech inventions, cars and cell phones are two scientific inventions that mostly affect people’s lives. For example, they can get to the destination faster or simply make a phone call to talk instead of taking time to write a letter. However, all of these effects do not stop there. As people can observe, they no longer work manually or by hand because everything have become computerized. Therefore, it is not unreasonable to believe that “in the future, computing is not computers any more; it is about living,” according to Nicholas Negroponte (27). In fact, the invention of computers has had both positive and negative effects on people’s development, such as, in humans’ social lives, in their jobs, and in human entertainment.…

Technology was invented to make our life easier. Technology is the making, modification, usage, and knowledge of tools, machines, techniques, crafts, systems, methods of organization, in order to solve a problem, improve a pre-existing solution to a problem, achieve a goal or perform a specific function. It can also refer to the collection of such tools, machinery, modifications, arrangements and procedures. It helps us to do our work faster and easier. When technology was developed, with the progress of society, a lot of traditional things were rejected. There is no doubt that technology has affected all of our lives. Whether it is positive or negative will be determined by the success of our ability to communicate with those around us. While modern technology has provided us with great new inventions to improve both the quality of our lives as well as the longevity of our lives; the abuse of such can leave one with a gaping whole one’s life.
