Delegate Model vs. Trustee Model in the US Congress
I believe that Congress should use both models. There are times when both models could be useful. The Delegate Model should be used the most. We elect the men and women we put in Congress, which means that they work for us. Some Congressional Members get to Washington DC and completely forget this. It is our right as a citizen to vote them out of office. The Delegate Model should also be utilized when making decisions about Taxes. Another issues in America where the Delegate Model should be used is gun control. Although Congressional Members do work for the citizens they represent, there are some issues when a Congressional Member might not agree with their party or the beliefs of the members within their district. During those times, The Trustee Model comes into play. One if the biggest issues where a Congressional Member needs to use the Trustee Model is the issue of gay marriage. On average most Republicans don’t support this issue, but there are some members of Congress that do. Another issue where they should use the Trustee model is the issue of the debt ceiling. Again this is an issue that separate the American people by party. Most Republicans don’t want to raise the debt ceiling but there are certain issues where a Congressional Member has to go with what is best for his people in his distract. One of the most important issues is the issue of terrorism. The American people don’t always the information when it comes to our safety. During this time Congressional Members must use the Trustee Model.

Democracy is deified as a government ruled by its people, a society represented by its own members forming a self deciding and self governed community. This very essential ideal established the founders of the United States has become harder to uphold, and there are restraints that do not allow for true democracy to be fully expressed. Extra-governmental actions by special interests and the intricate costs of campaigns has married the economic and political arenas and it has resulted the creation of heavily influenced representatives that no longer serve their original function- to represent the interest of their constituents. The functionality of today’s political system would be unrecognizable to that of the original Constitution and that of the founders. The absence of term limits of House and Senate representatives have causes two elements that infringes on the democratic value of the government of the United States; now members of the congress and senate are career politicians and hold office for many ulterior reasons other than the honor of public service, and secondly this notion has now created a political class an exclusive society that dictates the legislative process. An Amendment to the Constitution is necessary to overturn the previous institutional establishment of limitless terms for senators and house representatives, because amendments are the only way to modify the articles of the constitution. A trustee listens to his/her constituents, but makes the choice on how to vote based on their own judgment. A delegate votes exactly how his district wishes him to vote. Neither of these models of democratic representation are the best, but we do not have anything else. Unless someone changes things, these models of representation are what we will have to live…

The delegates greatly feared the thought of becoming a monarchy; however, they also feared the thought of becoming too democratic. There was a great power struggle between the federal and state governments, as well as, large states and small states. Madison’s Virginia Plan to create a two-house state legislature on the basis of population was greatly favored in large states, such as Massachusetts, Virginia, and Pennsylvania. Smaller states, however, favored the New Jersey Plan, which called for a single-house Congress in which each state cast one vote, as it was under the Articles of Confederation. Finally a compromise was reached that pacified all states. The nation would have a two-house Congress consisting of a Senate in which each state had two members and the House of Representatives would be appointed on the basis of population. In addition, Hamilton proposed the idea of Presidents and Senators serving life terms, on the basis of the idea that the rich (educated) had to control the nation; however, many delegates rejected that idea. Fortunately, a middle ground was reached and Senators served six-year terms and were chosen by state legislatures and representative served two years terms and were directly appointed by the people. These compromises have had lasting impact of this exceptional nation. They embody ideas and principals that are still widely accepted and…

Throughout the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, various types of love are shown. Romeo and Juliet is a romantic love story but romantic love is not the only type of love in the story. Shakespeare does a great job of showing the different types of love, for instance through friends, family, and the love you have for a boyfriend or a girlfriend. The different types of love in Romeo and Juliet are Materialistic love which Shakespeare shows between Juliet and her parents, fraternal love between Romeo, Mercutio and Benvolio. As well as bawdy love which is shown all through out the story but mostly Mercutio and the nurse. All in all Shakespeare does a good shop of showing the different types of love.…

Congress delegates power to executive agencies for various reasons, including lack of technical expertise, avoiding controversial decision-making, providing more detailed attention, and allowing flexibility. Delegation allows agencies to respond quickly to changing conditions or new information, while Congress may lack the technical expertise to handle complex issues. However, this process is not directly related to the review of state laws. Administrative agencies are crucial parts of the government, responsible for implementing, administering, and enforcing laws. However, they need to be under the control of elected officials for several reasons.…

Today the United States uses a process called single member representation. This has been the process the United States has been using since the United States was first established. This had been very effective until now. The reality is that this is greatly underrepresentation of the smaller parties. Proportional Representation is a better system in a number of ways; there would be less issues with gerrymandering, there would be a rise in the number of voters, there would be much better representation, and there would be more sexual equality in Congress.…

The practice of Congressmen keeping lifetime positions just increases the thirst for power in the men and women whose titles of importance generally determine their ability to keep a job. The recycling of these responsibilities would bring forth new ideas and perspectives to Congress. Term limits are already being issued in several states and need to continue to be addressed. Until boundaries are placed on our Congressional leaders, they will continue to take advantage of the system they seem to continuously abuse.…

The model that makes the most sense to me is constitutional balance. I believe that each institution should have equal party. I do believe that some Presidents of the United States and many congress members exercise their power correctly, however, there are numerous officials who are in power that can cause the entire nation to crumble. Therefore, I believe with a balanced power between institutions there is little space for things to go wrong as a nation. The policy making process might be longer using this method, however, I believe this method will be most effective.…

I am in favor of congressional limits because I think times have changed. It is a touchy subject because it is considered unconstitutional but I still believe it should be pushed. If term limits are implemented more women and minorities would be included into the congress seats. There are currently no term limits for Senators or House members, but it has been discussed for years. If term limits were to be implemented, most members of Congress would disqualify about half of those who are currently serving. President Trump has pledged to implement term limits since winning the election. He proposed to set a three-term (six-year) cap for House members and two-term (12-year) cap for senators, according to my source Time.com. I agree with the terms…

Congressional term limits is a very controversial subject today. Many people, including our president Donald Trump, think that we need to “flush out” or get rid of the people who have been in congress for a long time. With this ambition, multiple problems arise. People who have a job should not just be pulled out because they have been in there too long. That is not a good enough reason in any case. The people working in congress have worked and worked very hard to become part of this high position. Donald Trump should open his eyes and realize what these people are doing not just for him, but for our country. Without these people working in congress our country would not be able to function. Therefore, Donald Trump should not be trying to “flush out” congressmen, but thank them for their service.…
