Introduction
Bill Jefferson, the manager at the new outdoor Amphitheatre, would give the bus drivers complimentary food and drinks. Representative Sparks who was over the Parks and Tourism Committee in the state legislature found a blog in which one bus driver said “they very nicely give us complimentary food and drinks if we haven’t eaten dinner”. This was a problem because it was against state rules for any state employee to receive anything complimentary.
Case Study 34 Summary
Complimentary Soda Drinks for Bus Drivers is about a new outdoor Amphitheatre at a state park that had been very successful since it opened. The success of the Amphitheatre came from two sources: the bus drivers and the box office. The bus drivers were allowed to receive complimentary soda drinks and a meal if they were hungry. It was because of the bus drivers that the Amphitheatre had received its highest reward due to the association of the bus drivers. Since the bus drivers felt like they were a part of the Amphitheatre, and were treated as such, the bus drivers took it upon themselves to help the customers with tour guides by making suggestions regarding different places that they felt the customers would enjoy.
Secondly, the box office helped make the Amphitheatre a popular place to be. After tickets were sold out for any event, the box office would continue to sell tickets and allowed those ticket holders to bring lawn chairs, blankets, etc. and sit on the grassy area while they were able to enjoy the event. Although Bill Jefferson, the theatre manager was very proud of how successful the Amphitheatre had been, Bill was faced with many challenging issues.
