A persons actions and tone may not always demonstrate an individual’s true character or attitude at a particular time; in fact, relying on any facial expression or tone when speaking to an audience, actually causes a miscommunication of the message, as well as a misunderstanding of an individual’s character/beliefs” (The way I see it.com, 2013). Demonstrative communication is an important aspect of communicating amongst one another. The details that are in someone’s body posture, eyes, and facial expressions can say a thousand words without saying one thing. We sometimes can misunderstand or be confused by such communication as well. “The components of nonverbal communication, eye contact, facial expression, posture, arm and hand gestures as well as head position are extremely vital. Even though, we typically only focus on our verbal message, others see our communication as a “whole” Awareness of “silent” communication is the first step to improve our interactions” (speech improvement resources.com, 2013).
I believe that nonverbal and unwritten communication is as important as speaking what is on your mind. Sometimes the things that are on your mind will be displayed through your actions. I have always been a firm believer that actions speak louder than words. Demonstrative communication plays a positive and negative role with my personal and professional
relationships. My wife and I have a good line of communication and use more nonverbal often than the exchange of words sometimes. Something as little as smacking my lips could mean end of discussion depending on what we are
