Senior fellow at the Annenberg Norman Lear Center at the University of Southern California and the author of Walt Disney: The Triumph of the American Imagination, Neal Gabler, in his article “The Elusive Big Idea,” published by The New York Times (2011), argues that due to technology the development of new ideas and thought are of little value to society. He supports his claim by doing the following: first; introducing the idea that society is living in a post idea world, where thought provoking ideas are less common; second he recognizes that we use our immediate access to information “simply to know things,” rather than fully comprehending information and using it to form ideas; third, Gabler explains that society is living within Gresham’s law, in which trivial information is pushing out significant information, especially in the social networking world; and last, he acknowledges that in the future there will be even more information, but Gabler questions if there will be anyone thinking about it. In his article, Gabler tries to draw the attention of all people, who are consumed with technology and meaningless information, to show them that this trend must stop or else future society will be unable to effectively use information.…

Polishing and buffing are finishing processes for smoothing a workpiece's surface using an abrasive and a work wheel. Technically polishing refers to processes that use an abrasive that is glued to the work wheel, while buffing uses a loose abrasive applied to the work wheel. Polishing is a more aggressive process while buffing is less harsh, which leads to a smoother, brighter finish.[1] A common misconception is that a polished surface has a mirror bright finish, however most mirror bright finishes are actually buffed.[2]…
