I. Dedication

Sculpturing one’s knowledge and skills are truly vital in the attainment of self- development and holistic progress. The immeasurable learning gained from pre- school up to the tertiary level is what hones a distinctive personality and character.

My personal vision to become successful in my chosen field or career is well- founded through the knowledge polished at our University, the insights shared by friends and colleagues, the wisdom and excellence imparted by mentors and co- workers and supervisors at the Manor, Camp John Hay. To all of you, I dedicate this written journey of mine.

Possessing the honor of having worked with the Manor, Camp John Hay, I, Timothy John R. Garcia, extend my elated gratitude to the establishment.

The mind enhancing and energy- draining long hours of work is after all worth while because it pushed me to bring out the person in me.

Thanks for the opportunity of discovering and learning with you! The honor is mine to keep through lifetime.

Cruse opens the text with then contemporarily profound ideals concerning the ‘new’ Negro intellectual class that emerged out of the late 1950s and 1960s. In his discussion around the Negro spokesperson, I found myself considering the idea of Black representationalism—the avant-garde context of Cruse’s ‘spokesperson.’ His depiction of true America were bone-chilling as he analyzes the country in its totality in efforts to capitalize on the Negro’s function within in. Cruse speaks very highly of Harlem. At times, his thoughts seems to be guided through a bias, but as he spoke more of the section within the Manhattan borough, I conjured up the image of the utopia described. Cruse provides the vision for group Black economics, the vision of unity. Emerging in between the high-rises and co-ops of Harlem is a world separate from that of America. I was able to dissolve the thoughts of biases from Cruse as I noted several cases in which he, too, spoke of Harlem’s downfalls. His personal anecdotes provides the reader with full truths that employ historical contexts throughout the novel. Cruse uses his narrative of the city’s highs and lows to articulate the reality of double consciousness and introduces what…

I wanted to follow-up on the intake paperwork for the youth in care. You explained yesterday of being in training, however we can not have the youth in the home without: intake documents, school information, personal items and medication. The foster parent is a big advocate of children going to school and having all necessary belongings at placement. I also emailed the MUSC Foster Support Clinic packet to get D. Wilson set up with an appointment for medication management and individual therapy sooner than later. I would like to avoid any possibility of another disruption for D. Wilson.…

It’s inevitable that this must be hard on you, considering you don’t support my decision to join the war, but I’ll have you know that this dreadful place has me missing you all that much more. The fact that you are trying to understand, while being a French Canadian, really shows what an inspirational women you truly are. My passionate tie to Britain persuaded me to join the war, and there was no way I could pass up the opportunity to show my appreciation for our mother country. Training camp in Val Cartier was nothing I was prepared for. The British had high expectations for us Canadian Soldiers, expectations that we weren’t able to live up to while entering the training camp. None of us had much training or experience, this forced Britain to crack the whip and become very strict. Our training was very unusual and unexpected; we seemed to do a lot of aerobic-like exercises that took all of us by surprise. We have just conquered Vimy Ridge. This is the first battle that we have been able to act together. It is truly a defining moment for our country, we are finally able to rise from the shadows of Britain and realize the greatness we are capable of achieving. We were given a new Canadian Corps commander named Sir William Byng; he has done a miraculous job helping us capture this difficult position by carefully planning and rehearsing the attack. Although there was nearly ten thousand men killed and wounded, it was worth is to capture the land where there is no such thing as a surprise attack. There is no way to describe to you what it’s like here. I wake up from nightmares relieved that it’s over, until I finally realize that reality is much worse. There is no feeling insurmountable to those I’ve faced. The only thing keeping me going is the thought of home. You’d expect the battle field to be where the real horror is, but there is nothing…

    2. After reading Anthem, our group had questions about the message you were trying to convey, and the setting of the novella. Our motivations are what get us up in the morning and get us through the day. They are also more long term in that our specific motivators may determine the direction in which we take our lives and what we decide to do with our time. It can often be difficult to identify these motivators in ourselves. One way to see these motivators is to compare and contrast oneself to others. In Liz Murray’s memoir Breaking Night, she describes her hard and challenging life up until the moment that she was accepted into Harvard University. Although Liz’s life is quite different than mine, some aspects of ourselves and our motivations are the same, but of course there are also differences between them as well.…

To reach this ladder of success, I‘ve developed my own methods of survival through peace, love, and positivity. Unlike that homeless man who survives on his own, I persevere through helping others who lost their hope or are simply driven by the fear of working hard. On my free time, I motivate younger classmen with this message with the intention of leading them down a pathway unlike those who make up our despairing community. My change of perspective opened up many doors which allowed me to become a role model and a captain of my cross country team. Although my community has affected my academics and home situations profoundly, I now have the strive on bettering my future and experience on how it feels to fail but not give…

When preparing vegetables, it requires proper handling. The proper way to prepare vegetables is to measure the weighing and portioning of each vegetable dish in order not to overeat. It is best to wash hands before and after preparing the food. Washing vegetables is a priority because it will prevent from having food poisoning, including E. coli. The preparation of vegetables includes peeling, trimming, blanching, seasoning and soaking by re-hydrating the pulse of vegetables. The purpose of peeling is to strip out the outer covering of the vegetables. For trimming, it removes the non-edible and non-presentable parts of food. The purpose of blanching is that any fruit or vegetable is plunged in hot boiling water to soften, or partly cooking it. The purpose of seasoning is to create taste and flavor with salt and pepper. Also, the term soaking is that to rehydrate certain pulses after having cleaned.…
