In fact, there are few studies regarding this topic. Rethorst et al (10) conducted a literature review about the antidepressive effects of exercises and presented data that, like aerobic, anaerobic exercises were potentially equal to reduce depression symptoms. However, they did not analyse low intensity anaerobic exercises. Then, there is a concern related to what intensity of exercise is more effective. Singh et al (11) showed that a high intensity training (HIT) can produce more results to diminish depression when compared with low intensity training (LIT). They found that HIT reduced the symptoms in 61% of patients and LIT alleviated it in 29% of the subjects analysed. Nevertheless, this study was carried out with old adults and other studies could identified different patterns to young patients. Besides the fact anaerobic exercise can be used to manage depression, it is important to highlight that long term effect may be a positive consequence of this therapeutic intervention (12).
