When expanding into another country or a new country there are differences in the way meals are prepared and what the culture as a whole prefers as far as ingredients and overall taste. In our study one of the hypotheses is that in order to be successful in the Brazilian market we will need to add more fresh ingredients to our meals as well as adding spices or other ingredients that are common in Brazilian menus. Our second hypothesis is that our overall atmosphere including décor and music will need to be changed according to the Latin culture. Herman Melville was born in New York in 1819 so he grew up in a time where slavery was still common and accepted, but in an area in which blacks were treated with much more respect than they were in the south. His father 's relatives could be traced back to a man who was a part of the Boston Tea Party and both his mother and father had relatives who fought with the union in the Revolutionary war (Johnson). Melville had many jobs growing up, including teaching, being a bank clerk, and sailing on a whaling ship, which is what jump started his writing career (Johnson). Many of the stories that Melville writes take place out on the sea and tend to be quite adventurous and unexpected, much like Benito Cereno. This style is more than likely inspired by the number of his jobs being on ships growing up. These factors greatly influence the way he writes, especially relating to race in Benito Cereno. Benito Cereno is about an American whaling ship that comes across a Spanish slave boat that has been secretly taken over by the slaves. The majority of the story involves the captain roaming the ship and being quite suspicious with what is going on, but he never catches on to anything, until the very end when it is revealed the slaves are actually in control of the ship.. This story has many reoccurring elements of racial grayness and foreshadowing that occurs thought the entire story. Herman Melville 's unique take on race in Benito Cereno shows that both races, black and white, share a "gray area" of personalities that are rarely observed.…

Learning the Spanish language provides insight on the culture of different places around the world. By learning Spanish, we learn and can understand their culture. Also, learning Spanish provides another way for Christians to communicate and spread the gospel. WIthout learning spanish, we would be unable to communicate with other countries about Christianity, which is our main purpose on earth. In Latin America it is normal to call Spanish, castellano. Latin Americans do not use vosotros. Instead they use ustedes because it is more formal. People from spain, on the other hand, do use vosotros. For some different objects, the names are different. For example, a pen is boligrafo in Spain, but lapiz pasta in Chile.…

The Encomienda was the legal system established by the Spanish aristocracy in Spanish America in an attempt to define the status of the Native American population in Spain’s New World colonies. This system was greatly rooted in the practices of the Spanish during the Reconquista of Muslim Spain. The Encomienda was originally intended to reduce the uses of forced labor that were instituted after the discovery of the New World, however it became a form of enslavement. The Encomienda (stemming from the Spanish word encomendar, meaning “to entrust”) was a grant from the Spanish crown that was given to a Conquistador, Soldier, Official, etc., that allowed them to demand tribute from a specific number of Native Americans living in a particular area.…

This relates to the 80s and 90s when Latino players wouldn't want to try to talk to press because they were not comfortable enough with the language to try to say the right thing to say but it has improved to become what it is today. I feel that this story is important because since I have been to Nicaragua where it is a Spanish speaking culture and the kids love baseball but can barely afford just their equipment to get an opportunity to play in America where the kids are expected to know the language is not fair. I feel like the MLB strongly should make improvements for the Spanish speakers.…
