Introduction
Desalination is one of many methods to produce water that is clean enough to drink from; a desalination plant would take a lot of space and money to maintain, so is it really worth investing in a new plant?
Background information
Freshwater is becoming scarce as more people are moving into major cities such as Los Angeles where the water is constantly being purified and reusing all the water as often as possible even refining waste water from showers and toilets.
The consumption of bottled water has increased in America due to their new desalination plants as shown in the two diagrams below.

These ideas from my sources provide long term outcomes towards desalination and wastage of the brine and salt, an example of this would be in the social and environmental issues against desalination there is a theory that suggests the end of the food chain could occur due to the brine sinking and forcing small fish to not be able to eat, which will kill those off which will cause larger fish to not have food.
Summary
To summarize this research, the desalination plant requires a lot of space and has to have a lot of power to run. The desalination plant is loud so it should not be located in a major city. A desalination plant must have its waste disposed correctly or else it could destroy the current eco system and food chain.
Conclusion
To conclude the desalination plant would be a bad investment for a small place like Victor Harbor however it would be great for a place like Christie's Beach where the population is not as large as the center of Adelaide yet it still has enough people to sustain the
