Descartes Argumentative Analysis
Descartes believed that all human and animal behavior as well as human and animal internal processes was mechanical. In addition, he believed the only difference was humans have a mind that provides them with consciousness, free choice, and reasonableness. Ultimately, Descartes is saying animals do not have a mind or soul which does not allow them to experience things, become conscious, or feel sensations such as things like hunger, pain, or thirst like us humans. I have to disagree with this point that Descartes made here. I believe animals have emotions similar to humans and can feel things just like us humans can instead of it just being a “mechanical” response.
