Episode 1: Describe the School Environment (Observation) Ronda Central Elementary School has a good environment. It is surrounded by many colorful ornamental plants and trees which are refreshing and nice to look at. As I’ve entered the school, I observed that the surroundings were clean and well-managed. We went to the principal’s office to have permission and a purpose that we would be conducting an observation. I noticed that the office was clean, floors properly polished and things were well-arranged. When I went to the classroom, I observed many wall displays and learning materials such as charts and flash cards. It looked nice, attractive and suitable for the age group of the pupils. They also have mini-library consisting of different kinds of books which were in good condition and well-arranged in the cabinet rack. While walking on the school corridors, I observed that they have a school garden filled with vegetables of different kinds. It was well-managed with fences made of bamboo for protection. Their playground was wide suitable for motor activities of the pupils. They also have H.E room and Industrial Workshop Area which were clean and things are well-arranged. Then I took a break and went to the canteen to have my snacks, I observed that their canteen was clean and foods being sold were nutritious.

The school’s setting on displays show that displays are allowed on the walls in the classrooms, corridors, in the school hall and sometimes in the offices. By having displays up around the school it gives the children a sense of achievement and the children will feel valued. Also by having displays up on the walls in the school, it makes the school look brighter, and more cheerful. The policy on displays includes that the display should create awareness and give information. It should give information on what ever subject it has been based on. The display should have a clear title and name tags of who ever made the display, which shows the achievement of the child or class. Other pupils should learn from these displays and gain knowledge or experience. The children should always have an input with the displays, including colour, pattern and design of the display because this will get them working together and they will gain experience.…

In most schools, pupils will spend the majority of their time in a classroom. These rooms must be kept tidy and well organised, taking into account seating positions of individual children and addressing the physical needs of individuals. For example, if a child has any visual impairment, it would be important to seat that child in a well lit area, close to the front of the class where they can more easily see the teacherâ€TMs whiteboard. A child with a hearing impairment may also need to be close to the teacher. A child with SEN may need a desk in a bigger space than…

When preparing to work on a display in our school there are outlines which must be followed to ensure the safety and quality of the display. The display must pose no possible risk to the health and safety of the children, this means there should be no pins sticking out of the wall and no protruding sharp objects. There are set areas in the corridors and hall for each class to work, it is important to check which area has been allocated to your class before working on a display. All displays must be backed in coloured paper and have a clear heading or title. All items of paper should be laminated before putting on the display as this will prevent them from being damaged and help the display to last as long as possible. Items should be fixed to the display by using a wall stapler or adhesive Velcro strips. Pieces of work by the children may need to be photocopied first as the originals could be needed by the class teachers. All pupils should have an item of work on display as this promotes confidence in their own learning. When using photographs of children, it is important to check that the parents of every child have granted permission for photographic images of child to be taken and used. This information is kept in the school office. The display should be inspected regularly to maintain standards and repair any damaged areas. This is an important health and safety aspect as an item which has fallen from the display could become a hazard. When the display is dismantled any appropriate material should be recycled.…

"Rights talk seeps into spheres of American society where a sense of personal responsibility and of civic obligation traditionally have been nourished. An intemperate rhetoric of personal liberty in this way corrodes the social foundations on which individual freedom and security ultimately rest." Because I agree with this quote, I firmly resolve the resolution that establishing a safe educational environment for grades K-12 justifies the infringement of civil liberties.…

One of the main responsibilities of a Teaching Assistant is to dismantle and put up displays. From my experiences in my placement, I firmly believe that displays are a learning tool for the children. Displays can portray the children’s work and the children can also reflect on their work, and this may encourage them to work even harder for future displays. For the children in the class, it is an achievement to have their work displayed on the wall.…
