Describe Your Background and Life Experiences to Include Any Challenges or Successes. Explain How These Experiences Prompted You to Pursue a Higher Education.
List the reasons why you are attending college

I am attending college because it is the means for us to have credentials in the business world. I do like to learn new things and I am always interested in subjects that can make me a better person. I have been in college now for 3 years and it is a slow process that I am learning each day to be patient with. My friends influence me to attend, from high school and the successful ones that I know now. I also am influenced by successful people that I hear about or watch on TV. I have had tons of obstacles to overcome to be here at SAC from everything including being homeless, to drama, to a lack of motivation. I have overcome some of these things by the Grace given to me by GOD and I know that college encourages discipline. That is probably the greatest concern for me because I have never really fully obtained it. I have been going to school part-time, because of the many life distractions. I want to succeed and I am determined to continue part-time, but eventually (I pray that) I will be equipped with enough will and opportunity in my senior year to go full time and finish HARD and STRONG. School is just amongst one of the things in life that can either keep someone up or down. I feel that I have done the math in my life to see where I’m being lead. It is taking one step at a time and seeing things through to the end. That is something that I plan to really work on. My weaknesses. Go hard or go home.

I am determined to go to college even if there are some setbacks that make harder for me to do so. For example, when I was in 10th grade I found out that I had scoliosis, and the only way that I would be able to treat it was through surgery. At the time that I had found this out, I had already planned out my sophomore year; I was going to take 2 AP classes and 2 math courses above my grade level. At the time I truly believed that I was going to be able to go through the surgery, take all my classes, and very least get decent grades in all my classes, including my AP classes. However, that semester ended up being my worst.…

I come from a very large blended family and my parents worked very hard to provide for all of us, my mom had worked multiple jobs and was trying to continue her education so she would leave for work very early and would come home very late. That left the cooking, cleaning and tending to my younger brother to me all while I was a high school student, working 2 jobs and playing softball. With all that being said when I got to college I did not focus on school because for the first time in 4 years all I had to worry about was me and that was a strange relief…

Why am I attending college? I enrolled in school for a few reasons. First off I was told that to get a Five Rating (the highest rating) on my next Enlisted Performance Report would have to have completed or be enrolled in college. So in order to keep myself on a strong footing for promotion I needed to head back to school. Second, I am looking to better myself not for a performance report but for myself. Completing college is something I’ve wanted to do for a while now. At my previous assignment I worked many long hours which made it impossible for me to attend school or have much of life for that matter. So now with my new assignment and much lighter work load I no longer have the work excuse. I originally went to Community College after I graduated high school but left in my sophomore year to join the Air Force. I planned on continuing once I was in and did initially but school took a backseat to other things. So in order to correct the errors of my youth I thought would give it another try and see if I can do better as an adult.…
