When I was three years old I was diagnosed with Epilepsy and because of this, I was home schooled. I do not remember a chunk of my childhood, but I do remember learning math also learning how to read and falling in love with it. When I was in fifth grade I returned public school. Going from learning at home to a classroom environment was a challenging transition.. As long as I can remember I wanted to become a teacher. Since starting my education classes for my major I have been taking notes and keeping my education books, because I know I will need these resources even after I graduate. I have always loved soccer it is my favorite sport to play, and I was able to joined my high school soccer team. I did drama club from sixth grade until ninth grade. I loved being on stage and transforming into a completely different person. I also was involved the 4H fair, I showed cattle for ten years and I also showed sheep, pigs, and horses. With all of the things I was involved in I know I can bring a lot of it with me to the school environment. I think all of the opportunities I had will connect me with all kinds of students.As soon as I turned sixteen I got a job as a nanny, I have always loved children and it was an amazing experience. I was a nanny to three children for three years and created a special bond with each. Once the kids went back to school I got a job at the local movie theatre where I worked for two years. While in high school I was able to take health occupations and volunteer at different nursing homes. That is where I knew I was meant to become a teacher, so I was able to switch to cadet teaching.Growing up I had so many amazing experiences and I cannot wait to bring them into the classroom with me. From day one I have said that patience, passion, and understanding are the three most important attributes for a teacher. All three are very important to be a successful teacher and to have a successful classroom. No one of my three choices is more important than the other. It takes patience to become a teacher, it may take students longer than expected to learn the material. Also, students are not always going to behave, I know as a child I did not always listen. A teacher must have patience to be an effective teacher; students will not want to be in your classroom if you are frustrated every day. The patience you show in the classroom is also a way your passion for teaching shows. Passion is what makes you want to get up every single day, and you have to have passion to be an effective teacher. I know students feed off the energy that their teacher is putting off. You can tell when a teacher is burnt out, and unfortunately it happens. I never liked classes where the teachers didn’t enjoy their job. You also need to show your passion for learning in the classroom, the more you make learning fun the more students are going to enjoy school. Another major characteristic of an effective teacher is being able to understand.You must come into school understanding that not all students have a good home life. You must be able to treat
