Describe a Natural Disaster You Experienced
My fingers which were slender and flimsy started fidgeting with the buttons on the dashboard. Almost forty seconds passed, which was much longer for a pilot with 5 years of experience, to eject her seat off from the airplane. My mind was in a complete daze and was in a state of consternation. I was about to die, and I knew it. The scene was exactly how you could imagine it in the movies- the plane swaying side to side without proper control, a transient rain of burning, hot, red meteors flying from the sky which was as black as coal and the helpless pilot, trying to find her way out. I was definitely going to hurl out my lunch and my palms were drenched in sweat. At that instant moment, the thought of everyone and everything I loved flashed right in front of my brown, beady eyes.
It all started when my insane, daredevil friends planned out this terrifying trip just for a thrill. It sure made my spine turn to ice but I consolidated and joined in as well, since I was only providing them a ride. 21st December 2012 was planned out for fun-packed thrill adventure and we were prepared to face any obstacles which were thrown to us.
The day started just like any other, and the weather was tranquil; too perfect to be true. Birds chirped in the morning and the bees were out to do their daily duty. Before setting off, not knowing I was about to die, I switched on the television to watch the weather forecast. I had become absolutely motionless and kept my head glued to the screen. The words from the hot red lips of the newscaster were hitting me as if they were sharp as a knife. “Do not go out today; it might be the end of the world as we know it.” I thought about the trip but shrugged it off and told myself “You only live once.”
My long, bowed legs walked towards my 2006 Jeep Wrangler which was parked in my basement. I was energized and a rush of excitement filled my entire body as if I was on ecstasy. As soon as you know it, I was up in the air in my Cessna 208 with my

I hated peanut butter and now the plane would smell like peanut butter for forever, great. “No thank you,” I sighed as I wiped the mixture of spit and peanut butter off of my face. I stood up and looked around me, hoping to find an escape from all of this absurdity. Then I saw it, in the front right corner of the plane was a small, blue box with some faint, illegible writing. I walked over to the box and noticed it was a parachute. An epiphany came across my body as I realized that this was my chance to depart from the plane. I immediately took possession of the parachute, opened the emergency exit, closed my eyes, and jumped out of the plane. I heard a loud thump and slowly opened my eyes. The sight around me was not the crummy, rickety plane, but instead, it was an old helicopter. Just as I thought things could not get worse, they…

Climbing into the lime green car, my fear was over taking me. I was getting ready to ride the Titan, an adrenaline pumping roller coaster ride at Six Flags. It was easily the scariest ride at the park, in my opinion, with its enormous peaks, its deep descents, and double helix like turns was enough to make me sick. The ride began. Ascending up in the car on the canary yellow track, into the humidity filled, bright sky, the people observing from below resembled little army ants . The aerial view of Dallas was breathtaking, as I reached the peak of the ride and looked around. Passengers occupying the cars in front of me started falling off, like a cliff. I let out a high-pitched shrill, as we plummeted toward the Earth below. Traveling…

Two friends and I climbed out of a car, stretching our legs and gathering our luggage. It was Sunday, and the end of our two day journey from my hometown in Connecticut to The Summit, a high adventure/service Boy Scout camp in West Virginia. The anticipation I had felt during the long trip quickly changed to apprehension and awe as I gazed…

What felt like only minutes later we touched down. As I stepped down the steps of the airplane I could smell the salty sea water and hear the palm trees swaying in the wind like they were dancing. All four of us scurred of the plane like little rabbits being let out of their cage for the first time. Not one person was any less excited than the next and In no time I found myself in the rental car. The tires of the car glided on the road seamlessly. We arrived at our hotel just hours later.…

We slowly ascended up the steel hill that led to an incredibly large drop. The incessant screech of metal against metal allowed me a minute of pure bliss, a period of time where I was dauntless. We finally arrived at the top of the drop, where we sat for a while. We looked at each other and smiled, knowing that we were on top of the world. In an instant, our cart bolted down the drop. My long blonde hair became tangled in the forceful winds, and I screamed with joy. Butterflies arose in my stomach as I willingly threw my hands in the air. Ever so slightly, my chest felt as if a little bit of pressure had been lifted from it. I worriedly glanced at the rest of the group, and they seemed to be fine. I assured myself that I was just paranoid and tried to push the harness back down again. To my surprise, the harness became looser and looser. I started to panic once I realized that something was seriously wrong. I tried to speak, but nothing would come out. I managed to release a dog-like yelp, and frantically reached for Jenna. My hand searched the entire seat for anything resembling life, but I found nothing. Jenna was gone and I hadn’t even noticed. Hot tears started streaming down my face as I desperately tried to lock my harness back in place. The only thing preventing the harness from loosening all the way was the tiny seatbelt connecting it to my seat. This iota of protection was not…

In the morning of this beautiful cloudless summer morning, I never thought I would come so close to such a near-death experience. The drone of my phone on my desk was loud enough to wake me up and get me to jump out of bed to read the message my friend Ben sent me. “Let’s go to the lake I’ll pick you up at 11.” I run to my clock to see the time to realize I only have 15 minutes to get ready. I throw on some swim shorts and grab something to eat as I hear the honking of my friend’s semi-new looking car that his dad recently bought him. “Let’s go!” he yelled. I jump into the passenger seat, to see my friend ben, a lanky, pale, blond haired boy. Surprised he could even fit in the car; we start driving toward the lake, and notice the buildup of traffic. “I know a short cut we can take” as he turned into gravel logging road. “Let’s see what this baby can do!” I didn’t know much about bens driving skills but what I did know was that he loved to go drifting. As he cranked the E-Brake we turned the corner, rocks hitting the car like a machine gun at a war. We came toward a bridge as he pulls the steering wheel straight nearly hitting the concrete blocks on the side of the road. “That was close he yelled” frightened for my life, I tighten my seatbelt preparing myself for a collision. “One more time!” he yelled as we were tossed back and forth inside the car. There was a river ahead we didn’t notices, due to the large amount of bushes and ferns growing around. As we hurtled towards this unknown pit of death the car begins to spin out of control, dust covering the air and making it impossible to see, ben steps on the break…

I wake up from my sleep as the airplane is starting to descend. Once again I look down the window and see things that look like ants on their way to their home. Once the airplane descends more the ants looking things start taking the shape of cars and trucks driving down the freeway. Finally after just about five minutes the wheels of the airplane hit the ground and the captain of the flight gives the news that we have landed safe and on time. While we are waiting for the captain to tell us we could get off I start thinking of the things that might happen in my new…

Adrenaline ran through my veins as I stood up and attempted. Instantly I fell and scraped up my knees. A little scrape on my knee was not going to bring me down. I got back up and tried again. I started going down the road and said to myself, “This isn’t that hard! I’m doing it!” Now this was accomplished because I was going on a straight road with no obstacles. The fun really began when I came across a busy road. I looked both ways and started off. I didn’t realize that going off the sidewalk to the road would be so difficult. I was never taught how to get over the bumps on the end of the sidewalk, so I fell and landed in the road. I dragged myself to the other side because I didn’t know how to get back up and a car was coming right for me.…
