On 15th June, 2017 I had an exciting trip to the Blue Lagoon in Iceland. I had twelve hours of uninterrupted fun. This was a memorable experience.
How I prepared for my solo trip to the Blue Lagoon
I started my preparations two months before the due date. Due to the high influx of tourists normally experienced in the Blue lagoon at times, I had to book my ticket in advance. This cost me 6,500ISK only. However, if one went during down seasons, they can pay as low as 6,100ISK.
I only carried few items in my traveling bag. These included a swimsuit, towel, sunscreen and my credit card. There was no need to carry packed lunch, a camera or body gel since they are provided for by the staff.

Blue lagoon contains both silica and algae. I saw some green substance in between rocks. The tour guide told me that it was algae. There are two types of algae found in the lagoon namely coccoid and filamentous algae. This are used to make the Blue Lagoon skin care together with silica. It helps in keeping the skin young and wrinkle-free.
The water appeared whitish due to high silica concentration. It formed a white coat on my skin and made it feel thinner. Silica is the main element used to make the Blue Lagoon skincare product.
Leisure activities that I took part in
After the tour session with the guide, I decided to have some adventure. I got into a steam cave which is made from lava rocks. It made me feel relaxed. I stayed there for about 50min after which I went to the relaxing area. The lagoon was exemplary warm and I dozed off for a short while. I went to the in-water bar and was served with my favorite lemonade drink.
One hour later, I ordered for a massage. I was given a mattress to float on in the water as the massage therapists poured different skin care products onto my skin and gently rubbed it. I must admit, this made me feel like I was in paradise. The therapists tenderly caressed my muscles which made me feel more energized.
During all this while, one attendant was taking my photos which would later be sent to my …show more content…
My stomach rumbled loudly and I decided to spoil myself with food and drinks. This is when the credit card came in handy. I strode to the Lava Restaurant and was dazzled by its staff size. Chefs were crisscrossing all over the place taking plates of different dishes and glasses of drinks to hungry customers. They were well groomed and each had a name tag on their shirts’ breast pocket.
I took a seat near the entrance door and read through my menu. Fried fish and rice was my delicacy. The fish was well seasoned and it left a slightly burning sensation in my mouth due to its thick pepper sauce. Once I was done eating, a glassful of Skyr (the famous Icelandic yogurt) was served. Oh my, I have never had any drink as sweet as the yoghurt
