The Intoxicated Drunks
“Why am I naked? Why my throat is sore and why is there puke all over me? Where am I right now and why am I here?” These are the types of question that an intoxicated person usually find themselves asking after they have been drinking the night prior.
Strolling into the after prom party, pass midnight; my friends and I enter through these gigantic mahogany doors into a house from the 21st century one that looks like Tony Starks’ house from Iron man. If you aren’t sure how his house looks like, the house windows weren’t just the standard size 3’ by 4’ but instead they were completely ceiling to floor stained glasses. This house had the beautiful kitchen with modernized wood, with an island in the middle of the kitchen. But all this beauty was tainted by a wide range of intoxicated people.
To the right corner of the house was the dining room with a glass dining table seated for 8 but now is set up with a beer pong tournament with 22 bright red solo cups. This game was for the school jocks, the football players with their gold and brown leather man jackets that had their numbers sewed into the back. Each time a member would make a cup the jocks jump and bad mouth the opposing team. While spilling their cheap beer on each other making the dining room smell of beer gone bad.
But I noticed a scrawny kid about maybe 5 feet 6, but I couldn’t really tell from his posture. His back was hunched over as if he had carried a ton of books for the past four years. This kid had a scruffy look like Scooby in the childhood cartoon Scooby-Doo. His hair was a dirty blond with broken glasses and tape in the middle because someone had broken them on purpose. What struck me to disgust was the left over puke in his hair and on his Green Day shirt I’m guessing from trying to impress the jocks by doing a keg stand and couldn’t handle it.
I strut my way to the bathroom to see how my outfit turned out to be after trying to quickly slide into my black mini dress but as I pull the door knob it quickly shuts on me. I may have muttered some foul language to the person on the opposite side of the door. But as soon as I stopped muttering to myself I heard a silent covered up sob and I gently knocked on the door wondering if the person was alright. I slowly crack open the door and see a light skinned girl but a hint of a fake tan for the prom, her Maybelline mascara had been running down her cheeks due from the crying. “Uh oh” I thought to myself “the girl who cries as soon as she is drunk and starts crying about past experiences,” “what have I got myself into to?” She had a pink strapless dress with black peep toe heels about 5 inches, taking a wild guess trying to impress the ex-boyfriend who happened to show up with a different girl. I hand her some toilet paper, quickly glance at the mirror to check myself out and walk out of the bathroom.
As I’m walking out from the bathroom I hear a loud shatter, coming from the china dishes that some buffoons had decided to play hot potato with one, the now intoxicated dirt bags from school. One kid had a black hoodie which smelled like someone had forgotten to put the wet soaks to wash. He wore dark ripped blue jeans with black and white converses and a surprisingly big black mark on his right eye. The other guy maybe about 6 feet 3 Caucasian had on a white express buttoned up shirt but with a bit of stained blood on the collar. Maybe from a fight he had gotten with one of the football players from earlier that night. These are the people from every party who just go berserk and starting breaking and vandalizing the house just for fun and having no care in the world for the repairs that have to be made. And eventually would be the cause of the cops showing up and breaking up the party sending everyone off to venture through the night on their own.
These are the small variation of intoxicated people who kill the mood of the party, the football jocks, the girl who cried over past relationships, and the jerks who get the police involved. They are the people who wake up in the morning asking those questions from earlier.

Thirsty I made my way towards the kitchen to pour myself a glass of Cranberry Pomegranate juice. Sitting around what’s left of the dining room table one of its hinges obliterated merely three table legs left as a support. A branch from the oak tree near the kitchen window kept tapping against the walls and windows as the wind blows. This branch at night when the murky moonlight blooms against the massive tree meticulously resemble an oversized man with a knife trying to break into the house. I often dreaded coming down the stairs for a cup of water or juice late at night when the lights were off. The terrified image and screeches sound on the window always send me scurrying right back to my room and ducking under the covers trembling for dear…

Many think that narrative and descriptive styles of writing are one in the same, but they are not. Although they complement each other for a complete story; you can successfully write using one style without the other. The authors Connell, C.M. & Sole, K. define narrative writing as, "Narration is storytelling from the perspective of a narrator, and the story may be true, false, imaginary, or a combination." (2013, chapter 6.3). When you tell a story you want your readers to experience it through your words as if they were there when it happened. Connell, C.M. & Sole, K. define descriptive writing as, "Description is a pattern of writing that can be defined as painting pictures with words." (2013, chapter 6.4). A descriptive story leaves no detail unrevealed and appeals to all of your senses. When comparing Maya Angelou's descriptive poem "Caged Bird" and Judy Brady's narrative essay "I Want a Wife", it is clear that there many similarities and differences between the two styles of writing. However, because Maya Angelou's poem has descriptive language that appeals to your five senses, specific detail descriptions and uses figurative language to compare the unfamiliar with something more familiar it makes it a superior piece of literature.…

The Prince’s castle is very luxurious and impressive and is made up of seven apartments, each of a single color. There were also tripods with flames to light up the rooms. Starting from the east side it goes: blue, purple, green, orange, white, violet, and black. In all of the rooms, the window panes matched the room except for the last black room. The panes in that room were a scarlet blood color. After some time of confinement, the Prince had a masquerade ball. The guests viewed and enjoyed the rooms except for the last, they seemed fearful of it. It had an ominous feel to it, as well as an ebony clock that let out a loud and distracting…

So I finally get into the theater. I ignore the crackling, suction-cup feel of a floor that has had one too many sugary sodas dropped on it and carefully make my way to a seat far away from the sparse amount of people already inhabiting the theater. High pointed ceilings with wooden beams loom over our heads, and dark green floors are warm under our feet. A stone fireplace travels up the full length of the wall, combatting the chill outside. The scent of fresh food and red wine fills the air and relaxes my senses. People fill the rooms, eating, speaking, drinking, and laughing together. The roaring laughter from my grandfathers and uncles can be heard breaking over all other sounds for particular instants, a sound that is colorfully fixed in my memory. Those who break away from conversation long enough to look out the windows meet a very different…

The purpose between a narrative and descriptive essay differ from each other because of how you want to convey the story and how to accomplish the purpose. In How to Say Nothing in 500 Words, by Paul McHenry Roberts, the intended audience is for students and writers, and in Once More to the Lake, by E. B. White, it is for readers who had experience with sharing a moment with their loved ones, which both stories accomplish a specific audience.…

“When you smoke herb, it reveals yourself to you,” is a famous quote of the pothead and marvelous musician Bob Marley. He felt as though marijuana helped tune in with your inner being. I believe cannabis that cannabis does this too and therefore have become a habitual marijuana consumer. Being in tune with ones inner being is important, yet not the reason that I smoke cannabis. The cannabis plant is beautiful, from the leaf to the buds you smoke. I love the ‘highs’ from smoking marijuana, and last but not least, I love how I can function while ‘high’. The summary is that little nuggets of joy have been crucial in making me who I am now, and I am grateful for everything marijuana has brought.…
