Path to Success
It feels like it was just yesterday when I first joined LA Fitness. I was ready to take control of my life and win the battle of fat for good. It was a warm Saturday morning toward the end of April when I put on my new pair of running shoes. I got into my car and drove three blocks to the gym. As I walked into the new remodeled gym I was quickly greeted by two beautiful girls that looked like they just came out of a magazine. I could not help but feel knots in my stomach of raging insecurities as they told me to take a seat and wait a moment for Boris to help get me started with my new membership. My cheeks flushed red when I first looked at Boris. The man calling my name with his bright smile on his face was gorgeous; it almost hurt to look at him. He had the body like those strong men in magazines posing with beautiful women. Boris took me into his office and signed me up for a month to month membership; he even included a free personal training session to help get me started. After getting my picture taken for my account and receiving my membership keychain I was getting really excited about my free personal training session. Boris assigned Max a trainer to show me around and record where I was at physically. It was the hardest workout of my life and I thought my heart was going to jump out of my chest. I couldn’t breathe after only five minutes into my workout. I was getting so depressed and discouraged on how I couldn’t keep up with Max. He was really sweet and comforted me and told me it could not get any worse and that it was going to only get better from this point on. Fifteen minutes of torture later I just could not do it anymore. I thanked Max and we both walked to Boris’s office where Max reported the results and left to go train another client.
As Boris took a look at my red swollen face and told me I needed to get personal training sessions no ifs, ands, or buts. He started discussing prices and my eyes went big. There was no

After reading this article, my mind brought me to think back to many advertisements that I have viewed on shelves of stores as well as gym membership pictures. These figures we see, as they appear toned and have perfection, are never the raw images of these particular individuals. When an advertisement states that the reader should start a new physical training in order to achieve this goal, it includes a denomination of false advertising. These images of these built individuals claim to have recently started new workout habits when in reality these models have kept in shape all their lives and have worked out daily in order to achieve their body types. Women in the workforce viewing these advertisements wanting to appear as these younger more fit women believe they too, can achieve such a body if…

What’s better to chill out a hot summer’s day than something sweet and cool? No, I am not talking about a Popsicle. I am not talking about an ice cream cone, either. I am not even talking about iced tea or lemonade. It is something better than all of those, and it doesn’t even have all the sneaky calories of those other tasty treats! The answer to the question is simple. Have you guessed it? It is a cherry.…

About one third of adults and one fifth of children and teens are obese (CDC). This rate has increased at alarmingly high rates over the past 25 years. Along with these increased obesity rates, people are realizing how unhealthy this particular lifestyle has become, and as an effect, have grown the fitness industry tremendously. You can’t watch a television show without seeing at least two commercials bragging about the latest “get-in-shape-fast” gadget invading your living room, or the fastest diet pill making its home in your medicine cabinet. L.A. Fitness and 24-Hour Fitness locations have sprung up all over the country. People have turned to Zumba and personal trainers to whoop their butts into shape. However, even with all of these trends, Americans are spending over $40 billion on diet and weight loss plans and products, and those same people are spending years and years trying to get that “perfect shape.” This is great news for the American economy, but discouraging news for those affected by obesity.…

Brazil is a Latin American country known as the biggest country in South America and the fifth largest in the world. Brazil is also a political and economic leader in South America in terms of international trade. Brazil is about to become a dominant power on the international scene. One of the great advantages Brazil has for energy potential comes from having several different climate zones. A dry, sunny climate in the center gives opportunity for the solar sector to be developed, and windy coasts, especially in the southeast, allow for great wind power potential. What’s more, the Amazon River and its tributaries offer an abundant potential for hydropower. With 190 million inhabitants and one of the largest areas of the world, Brazil has to deal with real challenges for its energy supply, especially if this country turned to a sustainable way of producing energy. Thanks to an ideal climate for sugarcane, Brazil has a huge resource for supplying the world with the clean and renewable fuel.…

The cannabis plant is beautiful, from the leaf to the buds you smoke. I love the ‘highs’ from smoking marijuana, and last but not least, I love how I can function while ‘high’. The summary is that little nuggets of joy have been crucial in making me who I am now, and I am grateful for everything marijuana has brought.…
