Shopping at Publix

Since I was a child I have always enjoyed grocery shopping. Walking in to a well-lit, very clean grocery store was always a pleasure to me. There is only one store that I have found in today’s world that fits that profile for me. The store that I enjoy shopping in the most, is the
Publix grocery store. The store is always inviting, clean and very well-lit. The staff is always friendly and willing to do what it takes to help you enjoy your grocery shopping experience.
Unfortunately, where I live, we do not have a Publix grocery store. But when I get the chance to go to Publix, I’m like a kid in a candy store.

Usually my first stop in Publix is the bakery. Publix sets up their stores so that the bakery is the first area you would start shopping in as you enter the store. They want to make sure you smell the fresh baked bread, donuts, cookies and pies enticing your appetite so you will buy more groceries. . The display cases are filled with all my favorite bakery items. The glazed donuts, chocolate donuts, cakes and pies are all on display, just inviting you to make a purchase. Publix puts all their fresh baked breads together. I so enjoy picking up a loaf of my favorite white mountain bread, that was just sliced and still warm in the bag. I am a bread junkie and enjoy a warm slice of fresh baked bread with butter. And, they do offer samples.

The next area of the store that I enjoy is the deli. I just happen to love Publix spicy hot chicken wings. They are breaded, deep fried and very meaty. I also just love fried chicken. Their chicken is hot, fresh and comes in a few different varieties. You can get garlic, herb or chipotle

just to name a few. The smell of the chicken to me is just amazing. The deli makes many different types of salads too. You can get a really good potato salad, macaroni salad,

In nearly every grocery store I visit, the milk, eggs, and dairy products are located at the back of the store. I never wondered why. I never even thought twice about it. But since I observed this, it makes sense. These items are on most shopping lists, but in order to find them, one must pass through the remainder of the store. Even if you only came for a gallon of milk, there is always the temptation to pick up an item you never intended to by as you work your way to the rear of the store. The bakery’s location is also not random. It is intentionally placed next to the milk and dairy products to lure you with the delicious smell of freshly baked cookies. Because, of course, we all know that chocolate chip cookies go very well with milk.…

Magnolia Bakery offers four new items on its already extended list of products. These are four different kinds of bread. The choices of bread were carefully chosen to offer quality and healthy benefits. The choices are: Baguette, Black Bread, Focaccia and Bagels. Each one of these types of bread has a particular texture and taste that will give to the customer a great breakfast experience: Baguette is a thin loaf of French bread with a crisp crust, very characteristic of France. The Baguette is made with wheat flour and no added additives; Black Bread, or Rye Bread, is made with various quantities of flour from rye grain. Rye is a cereal grain, which gives a dark color and more dense texture from the wheat flour breads. This bread has important qualities because it holds a substantial amount of fiber and small amount of fat. This is good bread for diabetic patients since it doesn’t cause a spike in blood sugar, as the other breads do. Focaccia Bread is another option. This is a more flat bread topped with olive oil and herbs. The texture of Focaccia Bread is similar to the pizza dough, and it is made with high-gluten flour. Our Focaccia will be have supplements with nutritive value and low calories using little amount of olive oil. And for last, but not least-the Bagel-all American breakfast bun. Bagel is yeasted wheat dough bread first boiled and then baked. Bagel will be a product that can be…

Expanding has not been an issue for the dominating grocery store, even throughout the Great Depression era Publix was financially stable. During World War II the only implications Mr. Jenkins faced was finding materials to build more grocery stores but never was it a financial issue. Publix was the leading grocery store chain in central Florida and commenced expanding to southeast Florida by 1959. The supermarket manufactured a distribution center in Miami in 1963 and provided additional services aside from the full bakery such as deli service. The grocery chain expanded to Jacksonville, Florida in 1974 which maximized sales to reach $1 billion.…

A grocery store is probably not the first place most people associate with entertaining stories, but in my family, there have been quite a few tales that revolve around our local Kroger. For instance, hearing my sister, Mary Jean, recount the loss of her beloved parking space when Kroger built their gas station has been the cause of much hilarity. Approximately two years ago, Mary Jean and I went to Kroger for just a few items, and found the place teeming with other shoppers. The holidays were approaching, so the lines were four or five shoppers long and more than a few of them had carts that were almost overflowing. The overhead lights were noticeably bright, compared to the overcast sky outside, and all…
