Throughout our lives we meet many people. We impact others by our own actions every day. Sometimes we impact them without even realizing it. And people will impact our lives and our hearts forever. You may just have a simple conversation with a stranger on a bus, and before you know it, both individuals have a changed perspective on something. Or perhaps you’ve known the person your whole life and they have impacted you just as much or even more. These influential people come into and fall out of our lives so fast, it’s often hard to keep track. But it’s always good to remember your past, remember who you have met, remember who you know, and remember who is continuing to impact your life even today. These people are the ones that matter. They are who have helped make you who you are now. My dear friend Alex is someone who will always impact my life in so many ways.

I have only officially known him for about 3 and half months. We met June 16th of this past summer. We were both working as camp counselors at a summer camp in Harrisonburg, Virginia. There was something about him that drew me in from the start. But for some reason, I was afraid, I thought he wouldn’t be the kind of person I would normally become friends with, so I did not talk to him very much that first week of staff training. Something about him intimidated me, and I could never quite put my finger on it. We finally had our first conversation while sitting by a pool. The day was very hot, but after a quick dunk in the water, the air temperature became cool and pleasant. He came over and asked if he could sit down next to me. I was very intimidated by him and I was never sure why, but of course I couldn’t say no! So he sat down and we began talking about small things, until the conversation eventually turned to his tattoos and the meanings behind them. From that day on, we only continued to grow closer and closer.

Alex is a very driven individual. He knows himself

The living room, or family room, is generally considered the main gathering area in most homes due to the television being located there. However, this is not the case in the more than one hundred year old, light grey, two story home in which I live. The main attraction of this particular living room is the comforting atmosphere and warm fires that take place in the wood-burning fireplace.…

During our junior year of high school, I noticed Ramon was acting strange and his perception on life was so negative. I did what any best friend would do at the time and tried cheering him up and asking him what was wrong. Unfortunately I didn’t receive a response for several months. I didn’t give up on him though; I continued to do everything possible to see my friend smile. Without his happiness, I wasn’t completely happy. Everyday during school I was with him, it was rare to see one of us without the other. After school, we would attend the same club meetings and I would wait until someone picked him up before I left home. As soon as I got home, I would text him and we would text all afternoon until we went to bed. I did this for several months and to my enjoyment I saw his morale improve. Obviously it wasn’t close to normal, but it was enough to at least see his smile for a moment.…

What’s better to chill out a hot summer’s day than something sweet and cool? No, I am not talking about a Popsicle. I am not talking about an ice cream cone, either. I am not even talking about iced tea or lemonade. It is something better than all of those, and it doesn’t even have all the sneaky calories of those other tasty treats! The answer to the question is simple. Have you guessed it? It is a cherry.…

Although I am only sixteen, I have met thousands of people during my lifetime. Over the years I have made friends and lost some, met teachers and seen them retire, and flown half way across the world to visit family members I rarely see. All of these people have influenced me positively, negatively, and sometimes in both ways; however, only a few have truly shaped me into the person I am today. Mrs. Ping, Bess Neiblum, Emma Marsho, Pavani Samala, Usha Samala, and Jagadishwar Samala all played and continue to play a major role in helping me achieve…

I push the door open. The bell rings, with a soft but shrill ring. A wave of rubber gloves and disinfectant masked with air freshener smells are in the air . Chairs are cluttered in the waiting room of the dentists. Clusters of magazines lie on the wood coffee tables, shiny bright plastic showing logos and slogans. A little way forward from where I stand is a desk. A smiling receptionist sits there. She seems to have been expecting someone somehow, as she points me to go wait near the couches and chairs.…

An apartment is a self contained housing unit that occupies only part of a building. Apartments may be owned (by an owner/occupier) or rented (by tenants). My first apartment was located in Brooklyn in the Flatbush section. It was a small but very conveniently located third floor apartment in a elevator building. The building only had five floors with a see through glass lobby entrance. The building had a doorman that worked from four until midnight. He was a very pleasant middle aged gentleman with a carribean accent. The lobby had a sunken waiting area with black leather sofa and arm chairs that looked like they were bought in the 1960`s, but well maintained. When you came into the building in the evening you could smell the strong scents of all types of seasoning especially curry due to the Indian family living near the elevator. When riding the elevator up to my apartment it would shake from side to side and occasionally would hold someone captive until the elevator repairman came to get them out. My apartment was located on the third floor. It had a small foyer with a small closet to the left, a living room that measured 11 feet by 17 feet . It also had a very small kitchen that only one person could cook in at a time otherwise you would be constantly bumping into the other cook. Next to the small kitchen was a half size bathroom whose vanity mirror would steam up due to not having any windows or a proper working ventilation duct. When you came out the bathroom to your right was a small bedroom that you could only get a minimal amount of furniture in. Basically this apartment was in the shape of a box that was sectioned off into four areas. To make it into a home I started with the living room, I painted the walls chocolate brown and bought a sofa to match. The sofa was made of a furry material so I bought an orange chaise lounge to go with the sofa. I also bought earth tone curtains to mellow out the loud look of the orange chaise. I placed the orange chaise…
