Descriptive Essay: Walking On Ice

“Walking on Ice”
In the calm and chilling winter of the end of the year. My friends and I were walking back home from Friday prayer at the Masjid. We walked on down the road until we approached the river bank where it was arctic and barren along the shore. Suddenly, my friend had the idea of crossing the river to getting home faster seeking a new experience of adventure. I already assumed the situation could be a lot worse than that, but we shouldn’t live in fear, I thought. Before I knew it, I was walking on ice. It was another week of record lows across the state, mornings were brutal with harsh winds, numbing your toes and fingertips. Many schools were deciding to close up for the rest of the week. As soon as Friday arrived, the weather became mild at peace, and winter chill advisories soon dissipated.

The beginning of the end, I thought, what a horrible way to have pursued an adventure. Many of us couldn’t risk the danger of falling through the ice. While only three remained, including myself, moving on seemed to be a game of minesweeper, pick the wrong step and fall right through. Despite the jeopardy we were willing to face, we still had our staff to keep on going. Now the rush was on, we take even more precautions by delicately getting around the thin ice, and making sure we were in reachable distance within in
