Desdemona And Iago In Shakespeare's Othello

Iago is an extremely smart man and a good con artist. He was able to create doubt in Othello’s head about if Desdemona could be trusted. Iago made Othello see Desdemona as a liar and a cheater, when she is actually none of those things. This reminds me of The Wife’s Lament that we read earlier this year. The woman’s brother in law tells his brother all these stories about her cheating. She ends up being exiled because her husband believes his brother instead of her. It is kind of the same thing with Desdemona and Iago is the evil brother in law who is spreading all of these rumors. Instead of her being sent away to exile, Iago is going to end up getting Desdemona killed.
