RESEARCH & INVESTIGATION:
● What's already in the market:
1. This a great simple coffee

that shows great skills with
Wood and will look great in a living space.

What’s already on the market
● To get a wide range of options i had to do quite alot of researching online and in the local hardware diy stores such as woodies and other shops such as argos and navan furniture.
● Below are some of the desgins that i was very impress with it but could not pick it because it did not fit in to my aims of what the project should look like.the reason on very idea is outlined to why i liked it and why i did not approve it.

➢ This is another great simple coffee table

that will look good with the existing furniture. It is also doing more with less so it is a very good idea.

My choice:

➢ the reason why I selected this idea was

because it fills all the aims I set out at the start of my investigation/research. This idea serves the comment doing more with less perfectly because it does not require too much wood or expense as it would if I was to make a coffee table and drawers alone so its doing more with less because they are together. It is also something that will free up a lot of space up in the room.

Possible wood types

Oak
➢ the advantages of Oak are:
➢ Oak wood has great strength and hardness
➢ It is very resistant to insect and fungal attack
➢ It is easy to cut
➢ It also looks good
➢ It is a very strong wood and resistant to many

pests and to rot

Beech

In April 2008 Haverwood Furniture merged with Lea-Meadows, a manufacturer of upholstered furniture for living and family rooms. The merger was not planned in any conventional sense. The merger proceeded smoothly since the two firms were located on adjacent locations and the two companies would maintain as much autonomy as was economically justified. The only real issue that still remained was merging the selling efforts. The question was straight-forward “do we give the upholstery line of chairs and sofas to our sales force, or do we continue using the sales agents?” Haverwood’s vice president said the line should be given to his sales group, but Lea-Meadows said the upholstery line should remain with sales agents.…

Navallez’s establishment is known for its quality pieces, crafting a variety of chairs and tables from the abundant supply of timber in the area. In the late 1990’s, Navallez competitors became a real threat to the ongoing success of Guillermo’s Furniture and Manufacturing Company, producing like quality furniture for a fraction of the cost. What is more, the competitors were producing these pieces at an alarming rate, and using high-tech equipment and absolutely no labor costs.…

IKEA is a Swedish-owned global business founded in 1943. The business generates annual revenues of 27 billion euros and employs 139,000 people in 298 stores and 26 countries. The values and design philosophy of the founder continue to underpin the brand. These values might be summed up as frugal, democratic, environmentally aware, and design oriented. IKEA has become synonymous with Swedish lifestyle. The stores are virtually identical across the globe and sell a range of globally sourced flat-packed furniture products as well as a range of related furnishings for the home—the stores offer customers a Swedish experience by incorporating restaurants and a variety of customer services intended to simplify the shopping process (e.g., childcare). What is interesting about IKEA is that customers have become a significant part of the value creating process—customers play a key role in terms of logistics and in production. By performing the assembly of the flat-packed furniture, customers complete the final stages in the production process. In terms of logistics, the customer “moves” goods from warehouse-style storage through the checkout, and then transports the goods home. The trade-off for the consumer is lower prices and immediate gratification—furniture is typically sold using just in time (JIT) inventory management, which means that once a customer has placed an order, the furniture then goes into production and is delivered to the customer’s home some 3–4 months later.…

A.) Pine Valley Furniture developed its applications in-house. There are several plausible reasons for why the company chose this option. The company may have had unique processing needs that required the system to be built in-house, as opposed to purchasing a prepackaged system. The company may also have viewed its information systems as helping it achieve a competitive advantage. The company had several options, such as purchasing a system off-the-shelf, implementing an enterprise-wide system, hiring a company to develop and run the software on its own computers, or hiring a consulting company to develop the system.…
