Armand Aubigny is the male character in the story, and his wife Desiree is the female individual. Desiree loved her husband and would obey his command regardless of whether she would be hurt. After the birth of her baby, Desiree’s husband came to understand that she was not white. The knowledge made him distance himself from Desiree. Therefore, when Desiree confronted Madame Valmonde whom she considered her mother about her case she was told to go home.
