If we view free will as choices that originate in our own minds then we are safe to assume that we have free will, but for something to be truly free it must be the conduit in which the choice was made and it must be made solely alone. This is covered in the writings in Thomas Aquinas’s Summa Theological in which the originality of our “free-will” is discussed. As Christians we believe that we were created by god, if this is your belief then you believe that life was given to you by God and God is the initial push to the begging of our lives. “Free is cause of itself, therefore what is moved by another is not free. But god moves the will”. Under the pretense that in order to be free something must be the first in its chain of origin so to say then how can we assume to have free will if we believe that our first cause comes from God. As humans we live our lives in pursuit of some goal, through these goals we give our lives purpose. Being on this path to an end really does counteract the purpose of free will. If we live our lives in pursuit of something all of our choices will be made in anticipation of this goal, we will personally set a path for ourselves that we will not deviate from. By setting this path for ourselves we eliminate choices and will follow the only choices that will leads us down our paths. Through this reasoning we can see that even by making a choice to follow a path in life we are eliminating any semblance of “free will” that we
