Detroit Potholes Problems
Would Detroit have more tourists if it got rid of all of the problems? There are a lot of good things about Detroit, but there also many bad things such as abandoned buildings, stray animals, and potholes. Detroit was once one of the most popular cities in the country due to the automotive industry, but then its popularity decreased from the increased violence. Detroit’s population fell 61% from the year 1950 to 2010. As a result many citizens of Detroit moved to find a better lifestyle, as result leaving behind many abandoned buildings.

Potholes will damage your car and tires and avoiding them is a hard task. “Some Detroit area residents are fed up with crummy conditions of certain streets and are taking matters into their own hands”(author unknown). Since Detroit's budget is so low the city just can not afford to fill each and every pothole, some citizens are even filling them up themselves. Although Detroit's city department can not afford to fill every pothole they do try their best to fill in the worst ones, you can even report a pothole on their city website however this does not mean they will pay for the damage the pothole has caused on your car. “The Michigan Department of Transportation has a claim process for motorist whose vehicles have been damaged by hitting a pothole that is on state trunk line”(Norrell). Detroit is not the best city to live in or visit however it does have its good values. The city of Detroit might be always booming with danger but it does carry a lot of potential and interesting history with it and beautiful painted buildings with a perfect view of the river downtown. Detroit also has very good food and talented musicians playing on the street as you walk by. Detroit would be a perfect place to visit and live if only there were more people involved with fixing it and making it
