This clinic will provide a wide range of services. These services will include routine exams, and prenatal care. This clinic was opened to replace River West Medical Center (RWMC). RWMC closed down in 2008. This left the female residents of Plaquemine without a gynecology clinic. Women had to drive at least 30 minutes to Baton Rouge to receive care. Ochsner Health Center has opened various clinics in the Greater Baton Rouge area, but they wanted to open some clinics in rural areas also. This clinic will allow patients in Plaquemine and other surrounding areas accessibility the clinic. The community of Plaquemine really needed this clinic. The clinic will generate funds for the town, and it will save the females’ time by shortening her travel time. Expecting mothers in the area do not have to travel more than 30 minutes to get examined by the doctor. The facility need for renovation was also very important. This building had to wider hallways for wheelchair use. This building also needed bigger rooms to accommodate expecting mothers and their families. This building needs more space to store equipment such as ultra sound machines. Ochsner of Plaquemine is 4,000 square feet. Although this building is fully equipped, it is not big enough to service the area. The current clinic is temporary clinic until the new hospital…

Concepts like crime prevention, authority, professionalism and discretion have evolved in modern law enforcement since the twentieth century. August Vollmer instituted university training as a tool for young officers in training and under Vollmer’s teachings; O.W. Wilson pioneered the use of advanced training for officers and is also known for the start of criminal justice as an academic field. Wilson was also instrumental in applying modern management and administrative techniques to policing. Vollmer’s drive for educational innovations and improvements has changed policing tremendously and is still practiced heavily upon in today’s modern law enforcement society.…
Many police departments both across the country and throughout the world have found themselves struggling with manpower resource issues. Having enough officers on call to effectively meet the needs of the community must always be the priority, but it is a priority that is often overlooked by those who delegate financial resources to these departments. Being tasked with performing a job more efficiently and still using the same levels of resources requires a creative and lateral approach. One such method for meeting this increased demand in law enforcement is the employment of call volume analysis and the subsequent changes in scheduling that the results suggest. In most cases, the solution is the addition of a "power shift."…

The University of Texas at Austin is one of the most prestigious schools in the United States, it is among one of the highest in graduation rates, campus size and amount of students that attend there. While the University of Texas has such a high attendance of students that go there, the local municipal departments of Austin is right along the road with honors and recognition. Though the city of Austin is not big in citizen count, the local municipal department has its work cut out for them, the crime rate is not low for its amount of citizens the city has in total. We shall compare these two police departments that will be covering the University of Texas and also we will also cover the local Austin police department. The areas we will be covering will include agency’s staffing, divisions and services. Then we will cover the area of the organizational structure, crime statistics and other pertinent features from those agencies. And finally we shall enter the communication and see if the two agencies work together side by side in the city of Austin. The methods that we are going to be using in this research from the two agencies will be from the department’s websites that have their information in the website from those agencies. The data we will be covering from the websites will cover the staffing how available it is for the public, then the divisions from the departments and what those divisions offer.…
For the month of September, I completed my community service by being a SPO, or a Safety Patrol Officer for Achieve Charter Academy. Ms. Fuller was the dean directing the Safety Patrol program. After going through training, I started arriving to school early on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, starting on the 21st of September. I had to be in school by seven forty in the morning; I’d put my books in my locker, sign in at Ms. Fuller’s office, get my belt on, and be out at my post by a quarter until eight. My shift ended at ten past eight. While doing this, I completed a total of one hundred twenty minutes, or two hours, of community service for my school.…
Furthermore, another factor that adds to the problem of students of color departing their education is that schools in these low-SES neighborhoods place more attention in the security aspect of the school than the academics and success of their students. According to Freeman (2013) Kim(2013) Rawson(2013) the Los Angeles School Police Department ( LASPD) has a budget of over $52 million to employ school policers. Moreover, schools now have more school policers and securities in school grounds than they have counselors or programs to assist at risk youth of dropping out ( Freeman&Kim& Rawson, 2013.) In current society students of color are not getting prepared to attend higher education institutes, but being prepared to enter to the criminal justice…
The criminal justice system is always changing to help secure and protect society. Even though many times areas of law enforcement are over looked due to changes, the facts still remain that the number one priority of law enforcement is to see that the streets that we walk during the day and night are safe and secure even though one main ingredient has been lost with the progression of law enforcement. So in this paper I will focus on evaluate a few areas that have to deal with the past, present and future trends of law enforcement. I will also sum things up and discuss the budgetary and managerial impact that future trends will likely have on law enforcement, courts and corrections.…

Third, although USC has few weaknesses, as I presented in above paragraphs, some of the weaknesses are fixed or improved actively by the USC. According to USC website and what Steven said, the department of public safety, as a police station, has 306 full-time personnel and 30 part-time student workers. Those people would work for 24 hours and keep a watchful eyes on the screens that show the conditions around the campus. Beside that, the department of public safety also promoted many policies or programs that help to prevent crime happening inside and outside of the campus. For instance, the USC trojan mobile safety app, called "livesafe", is controlled by the department of public safety of USC. This app allows users to initiate contact with emergenct responders in…
