avocado and light green like Mike Wazowski from the movie Monster Inc. on the other. I took a quick sniff of the leaf and it smelled like a fresh mowed lawn and a hint of dirt. The size of the leaf is as long as a pen and wide as a playing card. Observing the leaf and spending time writing on what I experience was interesting and different each day.
On my first day, I drew a smiley face on the leaf since I am going to spend time for a week. This made me happy every time I look at it along the week. Almost losing my leaf on my third day gave me a slight panic but I found it in my backpack crushed between my notebooks. Looking at the shape I was surprise it was not spilt in half however, the shape was deformed. In general, when I am casually holding the leaf one of my friends or families would look at me oddly. They would either ask me why I am a holding leaf or slowly walk away. Especially, when I was in the library because it is unlikely to see someone with a
leaf. Often, when I would write down my experience into my journal, I never thought I would actually write a lot within ten minutes. I usually have a hard time thinking about what to write or come up with ideas when there is no format to follow. Writing in my journal each day, I realize there were some days that I didn’t expect to write. I was surprise I would write about the leaf and slowly write about something different on what I was thinking or feeling. Ten minutes of writing is actually fast when I have many ideas and experience about the leaf. I also, notice each day I learned I improved of writing critically and thinking about more ideas compared to my first day. Sitting down observing the leaf and the interaction around me, I realized that it helped me become a better critical thinker and writer. What I learned throughout the week, I have reflected back on each day of my experience with my leaf. I have found that seeing the leaf slowly change and the thought of not coming up with ideas to writing in my journal, I notice that there were things I wanted to add or change. For example, the word choices, including more descriptive details about my day and the leaf, and improve my grammar. Writing a dialectical journal for the first time was actually interesting and it had open my thought on writing and applying that it is good to wrong at time and change things.
