This is a situation that can lead to affecting future generations in negative ways. This is an issue that is illustrated throughout the poem “Without Title” by Diane Glancy as she depicts the life of her father who has left his beloved cultural life as a Native American for a more “civilized” world with what we can assume is with the whites. In the poem Glancy states, “When he brought home his horns and hides my mother said get rid of them,” (Lines 11-13). This piece of evidence shows that even in his own family his culture is being denied of acceptance. We can assume that the mother probably has a different culture than that of the father’s. The culture of the father is not allowed to be expressed throughout his new modern life, therefore future generations related to him such as that of the daughter will not get that full knowledge and experience with a culture that most likely founded their family. The culture, which is a huge part of the father’s identity, will not be able to be passed down and soon that culture will die. If the mother would have accepted the father and his different ways of life, in this case his culture, then a big part of the origins could be shared and future generations could know more about that and be able to pass something meaningful
