Diary Of A Wimpy Kid: Hard Luck
Diary of a Wimpy kid : Hard Luck is a series written by Jeff Kinney. It’s also a realistic fiction. I would also give the book 41/2 stars because it was interesting and it made me laugh a couple of times. It was also clear to read and fun to read too. My favorite part was when Greg had no friends, because his friend ditched him for a girl. The book is mostly about a kid named Greg who needs his best friends help to get through middle school or junior high. Then he says he needs his best friends help. But also when he has his best friend he says that he could live without him. Greg thinks when he grows up he is go to be a millionaire and all that rich stuff. He also is a trouble maker. In conclusion, that’s my opinion on the book Hard Luck.

This book has a very good theme but was not written to entertain the mind of a high school teen. The theme of friendship and the theme of telling the truth instead of hiding from it can help you overcome problems with your friend helped me out in life personally. I saw how what someone can see as white lie can produce even worse problems than the problems that would occur for telling the truth. I have been in situations where I could easily get out of a dilemma by lying but it was exceptionally wrong to do so. I thought this story was boring because besides Finny’s death, Finny falling out of the tree, and the “trials” on Gene there wasn’t much action. The writing of Knowles taught me to always do what is right no matter the consequence for it, because there may be greater consequences for not telling the truth.…

It has very tough issues and a lot of language. This would be a book for upper middle school to high school. This is a book you would have to be very careful with, you would need a lot of parent permission and a class/student that you could have great discussion with. However, that is not to say that it is not worth reading. I think that a lot of students today have a hard time backing down from an issue, even if it is meaningless, so this could really be relatable. Some strategies that could be used with this book include predicting, inferring, and making connections. I think that inferring could be a great strategy for this book because you can use the pictures and the text to find out what the author is really…

At this point in the novel, the group of boys has lived on the island for some time, and their society increasingly resembles a political state. Although the issue of power and control is central to the boys’ lives from the moment they elect a leader in the first chapter, the dynamics of the society they form take time to develop. By this chapter, the boys’ community mirrors a political society, with the faceless and frightened littluns resembling the masses of common people and the various older boys filling positions of power and importance with regard to these underlings. Some of the older boys, including Ralph and especially Simon, are kind to the littluns; others, including Roger and Jack, are cruel to them. In short, two conceptions of power emerge on the island, corresponding to the novel’s philosophical poles—civilization and savagery. Simon, Ralph, and Piggy represent the idea that power should be used for the good of the group and the protection of the littluns—a stance representing the instinct toward civilization, order, and morality. Roger and Jack represent the idea that power should enable those who hold it to gratify their own desires and act on their impulses, treating the littluns as servants or objects for their own amusement—a stance representing the instinct toward savagery.…

The book I am reading is Where the Heart Is by Billie Letts. I have read to the part that Novalee has been living at Walmart for the past month, because her boyfriend dumped her there and she had no where else to go. The last chapter that I read was Chapter six, this chapter is about a birthday dinner that Forney the library guy had for her. This book is very interesting, I am enjoying a lot. It is so be superticious about the number seven, but still be lucky enough to live at a Walmart for so long and not get cought, not only that but she has met many different kind of folks around that town, many people that seem to be a sign to her life. I think after all that she has been trough so far I am thinking she may be luck after all. In the Story Novalee’s boyfriend is a jerk, he is not the ideal boyfriend anyone would want to have. It seems that she really was in love with Willy Jack, but he couriously had no interest for her, I am guessing he manipulated her just like he did with Jolene in New Mexico; and after Novelee got pregnant he got tired of her and decided to leave her there at walmart. After Willy Jack got arrested in New Mexico, I was happy. I really thought he was going to get away with him doing something like that twp this young girls.…

Joey Pigza Swallowed the Key is a book that opens the door into the mind and life of a boy with hyperactivity issues. It introduces parent abandonment (leaving him with his grandmother) and students with special needs. The author builds kid friendly humor into the story while at the same time making readers take a real look at a few of the steps Joey and his mother take just so Joey can be mainstreamed again after he harms another student. It took me a minute to realize that I read this book when I was in 4th grade and I’m glad that I had the chance to come back to it as an adult. I see Joey’s behavior a completely different way.…

The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is a delightful story of a young boy and his many adventures. Many of the situations Huck finds himself in require a specific sense of “street smarts” in order to successfully overcome these various predicaments. To that end, I believe that Huck’s so-called “street smarts” prove beneficial to his endeavors, if only to a certain extent.…

In today’s world kids see a lot before they ever reach Jr. High and High school. While there are three death scenes two of which are fairly graphic this movie is not the worst a 15 to 18 year old has ever watched. Plus the only truly gory scene is Piggy’s death because it is more or less shown than the death of Simon or the death of _____________. If it were my classroom I would show it just to give an example of how charismatic leaders can gain power and steam roll over smaller contenders or how charismatic leaders with a backing of the people can do truly grotesque atrocities. Either way this movie is fine to be shown in a Jr. High or High school classroom mostly because now days the graphics of this movie would be considered lame in their…

I am stranded on a desert island with a group of rude and immature boys, and no responsible human being knows I am here. The atmosphere of the island is not very good for my asthma. It is hot and humid, so it's hard to breathe, and I can't even go swimming to cool off, because my Auntie says I can't on account of my asthma. The first boy I met on this island was Ralph, who seems completely disinterested in everything I say. The only thing that caught his interest was when I told him of my loathed nickname, "Piggy." After I warned him that I didn't want people to call me that, he went and blurted it out to the other boys, and since then I have been mocked and tormented to no end. Ralph used the conch that I found to gather all the boys together, and he was appointed leader. Whoever wants to speak has to hold the conch, but whenever I am holding the conch, Jack interrupts me and sometimes he even makes fun of me. If Auntie was here, none of this would be happening; she would take care of me and give me all the sweets I desire. For now, Journal, you are my only friend; the only thing in which I can confide. I am going to go find something to eat now.…

John Steinbeck’s novel ‘of mice and men’, is set in California during the 1930s. At this point in time was the ‘great depression.’ Steinbeck got the name of the novel from a poem called ‘To a mouse on turning up her nest with a plough.’ There are many reasons why Steinbeck wrote this novel: one is that he was briefly a ranch hand, meaning he had a great comprehension of the difficulties and disadvantages of working on a ranch. Another reason is because Steinbeck writes about realism meaning there was a great interest in the lives of the poor rather than the rich people at this time. All of the characters are disadvantaged because most of them have no lasting friendships and have come from broken up families. The characters I will be presenting as the most disadvantaged are – Lennie, Crooks, Candy and Curley’s Wife.…
